ALL my past fords (last 7) used Garmin Maps for Navigation. I "heard" you don't have to use Google Maps. IF that is the case - what do I have to do to use something like Garmin (in place of Google Maps)?

Thanks!

If I don’t plug in my phone, I get the default Ford map (which I will never pay to update). Maybe that’s provided by Garmin?

Interesting. When I test drove my ride it brought up Google and insisted that I log into Google. Maybe, if I ignored it - it would default to Ford's Navigation. Why must Ford make it so hard! SMILE

Thanks for the suggestion.

your 25, has wireless android auto/ Car Play so it wants to connect to you Phone and sync with it. which explains why it wanted to log into google. you should have a setting to default to Vehicle navigation I would assume. I find the in car navigation is poor and not updated enough as I found on several trips it want me to go on roads that are closed, where as Google is usually always up to date and routes me properly. My 2020 has only wired phone connectivity for Android auto/ car play. but I am ok with that.

You brought up a good point (map updating). I am very close to just going along with Google Maps. I used it twice this week and it is just the learning curve (for this old old fart) that I hate dealing with... SMILE

Thanks for your reply.

One of the many benefits of Google Maps is that it’s online. Wife and I drove to a JD Vance rally today and Goggle popped up three speed traps we were approaching.

Dang - didn't know that (radar trap detection). You guys are really swinging me over to Google Maps.

Its not really detection. Like Waze, it depends on people reporting it. I want to say its a new feature on the left side of map screen. Has a hazard triangle. You select what you see. There are several options,,select one and it retains it for anyone running google maps.

Another kewl thing is you can sign into your google account on your pc or smartphone and generate a trip . We are going to the mountains end of month. I set up the whole trip sitting in my recliner then made it avail in the car. It will show up under ‘trips’..
