Considering 2025 ST but concerned with reliability

I had a 2019 sport that I drove for 65k miles, not one problem. Only thing I ever did was regular maintenance. That had the 3.5 ecoboost in it. Traded that in on a new 2023 ST that only has about 10k on it now, I have a work truck that I drive most of the time so that's the reason I'm only at 10k. I've never had any problems with the ST.

Those prices are a bit off:
Interstate Battery- $285 (Easy enough job to do yourself)
Spark Plugs- Cost me $390 to have my mechanic install a set of colder plugs
New Transmission- I was quoted $5,900 to replace the transmission, parts & labor (Ford ended up covering it under warranty)
Not sure about the engine but I doubt it's $20K

These vehicles have their share of issues but, as has been mentioned, people don't tend to talk about their good experiences as much they do bad experiences. My 2020 has 45K on it and I've only had a few minor problems, for example: AWD module, front half-shaft speed sensor, transfer case actuator seal. The transmission was fine until I had it serviced by an incompotent dealership.

Completely agree that those prices are a bit exaggerated. That is why prices have gone as high as they have because someone will pay $700 to have sparkplugs replaced...

If you're happy with what you have then stick with it. Especially if you haven't had any issues. I don't think Fords have any more issues than the rest of the market. I bought my Escort LX new and drove it to the junk yard 15 years later with almost 400K miles on it. If the interior and body held up longer I would have kept it but the seats were cloth so they were junk, the dash was all cracked and it was rusted from within. My first Explorer I sold with 250K miles and it still ran fine. My Ranger work truck had almost 275K miles before one of the timing chains let go and ruined the engine. I now own another Explorer and it has 28K miles and has had no issues so far.

When your the top selling brand in the US you are bound to have more recalls and warranty claims. Ford also issues recalls on a lot of minor things, like software glitches, in an effort to support their customer base where other manufacturers are hesitant to.

Not THE top selling brand in the US. Ford is below GM & Toyota in the US. I don't accept that being a big company, higher quality issues should be expected. Amongst many reasons for Ford's issues, I blame unions the most. I've been in many, many auto plants and it makes you just shake your head at what people are allowed to get away with, or lets call it, get away with not doing. The non union leadership's hands are tied all the time.

I've been a Ford guy my entire life but that may change on the next vehicle down the road when that time comes. I am sick to death with nearly every single Ford vehicle I've owned having multiple issues including many with major issues.

Just took delivery of a '25. I had a '22 custom ordered and loved it slate blue, 401A tricked out. Some kid on a phone rear-ended me at 50+ mph - I drove away, other two vehicles destroyed. Ultimately it was totalled, but I was able to drive away because of the reinforced frame. Not a piece broke off the ST. I have some personal preference style issues with the 25, but is much more comfortable in cockpit. Where I smashed my knee has been redesigned. Most importantly (I joke), the FENG is disabled by default! LOL! It's growing on me
