I have had no complaints with the Pirellis, but wondering what this crowd thinks is the best choice. I'm still using the original rims on my 2023 ST.
...my local Ford dealer recommended Michelins, but they're a little pricey.
First off welcome to the forum. There are quite a few threads about this subject. I’ve heard good things about Pirelli WeatherActives, and you can’t go wrong the Michelin PS4 A/S. Continental also makes a great tire also.
The WeatherActives may be one of the best all season tires out there. The Micheline A/S4 are a better high performance tire and not good in winter. I've had both.

Not gonna lie, I love my Michelins most of the time. I will agree they are not great in snow. Barely adequate but adequate for a seasoned winter driver.

The PS4 A/S did well in the heavy snow IMO. I do agree they are more performance oriented, if it’s just a grocery getter then Pirelli WeatherActives are a great option. I just love the PS4 A/S. I’ve driven them everywhere from Colorados heavy snow to corner carving on the backroads, and I love them.

Want 295/40/21 for a little more met BUT . . . See so many folks using spacers. I just want to upsize without spacers or mods. Am I good to go? Read through 100+ postings but . . . still can not figure if needed or people just like the look with spaceers when up'ing from a 275/45/21 to a 295/40/21 (still wish there was a 295/45/21!!!)

O)kay folks. Went to order the 295/40/21 tires and the dealer said NOPE! Require the 9.5 inch rim. Looks like the ST 21 for 2022 is a 9.0 rim. Thoughts? I am an aggressive driver so playing by the rules is important. I thought these were 9.5 buit all I can find here is 21's are 9.....

He’s corrected. The concern about putting a larger tire on a smaller rim is that it’ll balloon out and cause irregular wear and bad handling. The 295s don’t do that on the STs wheel though, you’ll be fine. A lot of people have done it.
I had run into the same thing this past summer when I was looking for new tires. I ended up getting 285/45R21 Yokohama Geolandar X-CV and I am very happy with them. Not many tires in that size, but another size option that is larger than stock and fits the stock wheel.
