Grey hides the dirt. Black just looks tough! For 3 weeks all I’ve seen on the lot is grey, white, blue….they get this black one in and damn… grey has been the top until now, first world problems.. I know.

Black looks good but very hard to keep clean and shows all the fine swirl marks easier. Imo.

Black is the prettiest color but the hardest dang color to take care of.

Way back when I had 3 or 4 vehicles in black one after the other after 10 years or so I made the decision to switch over to White, had 4 of those over the years. Also had a silver car. The white and the silver were the easiest to keep looking clean by far. I just picked up a 2025 Explorer Platinum 3.0 in November and went with the metallic black, I'm in Michigan and in the winter we use a crap ton of salt, need I say more! I have detailed cars for over 50 years now, just do my own stuff now days. When I picked it up I told my dealer not to have the car detailed so I could wheel it and put a couple coats of Cquartz UK 3.0 ceramic on it which helps keep it looking good but still way more work to keep it looking good, even when it is just dusty you can see it. Going forward I don't think I'll get another one in black especially if it's a daily driver, one of the main reasons I went with black is all the black plastic trim on these rigs doesn't show up as such a contrast like the lighter colors do. If I was to do it all over again I would probably go with white or silver and have the wheel well trim painted to match, Iv'e seen a few that have had that done and it looks killer.

I've owned two black vehicles in my life and vowed never to do so again. They are impossible to keep clean and if you live in a place that gets really hot in the summer the black color makes the vehicle untouchable and the interior a furnace. I only buy white or silver cars these days living in Texas and I also invest in decent window tinting and use a cheap windshield sunscreen.
