Has anyone had Ford replace these and have they held up or should I consider a different brand?
Bilstein, Monroe, BC/Lethal Performance etc come to mind.

There are no aftermarket replacement struts available. There are coilovers but the stuff that’s been on the market is trash and BC Racing is brand new and unknown at this point.

BC Racing has been in the performance suspension game for 27years and their stuff is very well known and used in the road racing and drifting worlds. The kit on Lethal allows you to customize your setup so thats nice. for 1300 its really not a bad buy.

Linear Piston And Damping Curve
Height Adjustment Independent Of Spring Compression
30-Clicks Of Simultaneous Compression/Rebound Adjustment
Front Camber Plates Standard On Applicable Kits
Rear Camber Plates Available For Applicable Kits

Custom Valving Or Valving Paired For Custom Spring Rates
2-Year Warranty Against Manufacturers Defect
Fully Rebuildable

Yea…and BC themselves say the ST kit isn’t for hard use so someone looking for a kit to thrash on may want to look elsewhere.

That’s what kind of put me off about there kit. I had higher hopes for their stuff, but at least hoping they’re better then Graveyard.

I had both replaced last week at the dealership, picked it up that evening then towards the end of the next day the clunking sound on the struts started again.
I’m waiting to hear back from the dealership on another appointment.

Hmmm. Wondering if the stockers are cr4p to begin with or if they're even the culprit.
How long did they have your ST?

Nope…read the fine print. Those are oem ST struts to bring other models up to ST handling.
Just get the cheap oem PIU struts and call it a day.
Yes, I've read that they are ST OEM standard specs but they are designed by Steeda, not Ford, and may be less prone to breakage.
I'm not looking for an upgrade, just looking for an option other than Ford. There's been a lot of complaints about the stockers and their clunking, mine included.

Well they scheduled it for a Thursday and said it would be done by the end of the day. Two weeks later they called and said it’s ready. Their excuse was that the technician was backlogged with other Explorers getting the struts replaced.
At least I had a loaner to drive.

Yeah, that's why I despise Ford dealerships. If their technician was backlogged, wouldn't they have known that when they quoted you same day service?
Dealerships around here don't even have loaners.

Yeah that’s what I asked the service writer.
He just kind of ignored me. I didn’t give high score with them when Ford sent me a survey.

They have a nerve even asking for that!

Those are not designed by Steeda. Those are oem Ford parts sold by Steeda. Always have been.
Aside from that the clunking you hear is much more likely to be the strut bearing, not the strut itself.

I've heard the clunking is from either a bad strut mount or bearing.

Prob is everyone heard. Some of these folks need to go deeper and find out what was the cause of the alleged bad strut replacement is. Be weird and sad just to be where a bearing replacement would suffice.
My dealer is still waiting for the mothership engineers to tell them what to do.
Extrenely tiring.

The strut mount is a single piece of metal. The bearing slips over it. Clunking is usually the bearing itself. In rare cases it can be the bearing against the mount but there’s nothing to physically go wrong with the mount itself.

My guess is dealers for warranty work just slap in a whole strut assembly because it’s so easy. That’s like 6 bolts and 15 minutes vs having to disassemble the strut to swap the bearing.
