Updating my Sync3 to the latest version, hoping to do this fullscreen mod soon. It sounds like it is very stable so far, but has anyone taken a long road trip and used WAZE or Google Maps the entire time without any issues? We tend to do a lot of overnight drives for our trips (longest I'll go is 18-20 hours in one shot).

Can't speak about the time duration, but the only issue I've had with maps, whether waze or Google, it sometimes crashes after using the reverse or forward cameras. It just says it failed to load retry and tapping that the map comes back up like nothing happened.

Does Ford pass continue to function without any issues for remote start, viewing vehicle stats, location?

Here's a clip demonstrating the low lag from touches using my Expinsig wireless Carplay dongle. Not only is it responsive but it doesn't disconnect for me either.

I've found another wireless Carplay dongle that is just as responsive as the Expinsig (unavailable). The settings page looks identical to the Expinsig and is at 192.168.18.8. Safe to say it shares the same firmware. Best of all, it's inexpensive. I bought it 2 days ago at $30, now it's $20. If you don't like it, return it but for me, nothing comes close to how responsive this is with minimal screen touch lag after doing the fullscreen mod. Much faster than wired carplay.

I can’t get it to automatically connect. Every time I have to open Bluetooth settings and select it. Did you have any of these issues?

It works for me. i did have to select its wifi at first but after that it should automatically connect to the wifi. if you select wifi and it asks for a password, the setup didn't work. I sometimes have the same issues setting up carplay dongles...it will connect Bluetooth but then after a while it doesn't connect to wifi. If you wait a while, select WiFi yourself. Sometimes i reboot sync and other times i unplug and replug the dongle and manually select wifi. Once your iPhone joins and has auto-join set, it should connect automatically thereafter.

Worst case scenario, delete the Bluetooth and wifi profile and profile in the car, and start all over.

I was having this same issue with another adapter I got today. Literally same model but found it much cheaper and since Amazon doesn't price match, I went this route. But it wouldn't connect. Or I should say, bluetooth would connect, it would ask about the passcode, click allow, then nothing. I went into wifi and clicked the wifi but it asked for a password.

The device needs to setup the wifi so you don't need to enter a password. If enough time has passed after pairing Bluetooth and enabling carplay pages, try unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. Then check wifi and select the dongle. Hopefully it'll be setup. Once you connect to wifi without needing a password, you are golden. I've had to do this with a few different dongles.

I have been using AutoPlexion DrivePro, it works but shows as CarPlay on all phones connected, even old Androids

For the Yeysua carplay dongle, once connected to its wifi, i would recommend the following settings at the settings page 192.168.18.8

After trying a few different dongles I ended up using the keverso android based unit for CarPlay. It’s a little slow to boot up but once running it has zero lag. The Netflix and YouTube options don’t work but it’s the only one I found with no lag.

Can you post a video of boot up? My current smart box works pretty good. Boot up is a little long and honestly not sure how much I am even going to use the YouTube Netflix options.

I takes just under 30 seconds and I got the Netflix and you tube working. I’ll try and post something tomorrow.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems all the 3-in-1 AI Boxes boot to Android and then you can select Carplay or AA. I just want Carplay with fast responses.

Most are android based. I tried one 3 in 1 CarPlay specific dongle but it didn’t connect. I have also tried a couple CarPlay only dongles and they were all really slow. This android specific has hardly any lag.

That’s kind of how I feel. The smart boxes are cool in theory but I don’t need the smarts really after all.
Like edeyoung said, I’m using one because it seems to be the best in terms of getting rid of screen lag with the new full screen mod.

but that $20 dongle cdubya posted, curious how quick that takes to boot. If it’s quick to boot and also offers lag free experience, I’ll try it out.

I will post another video with the yeysua when i get a chance. Its connection speed is pretty typical for a carplay dongle. There are a few times i have to unplug and replug it if it doesn't connect or sometimes reboot Sync. A lot depends if i pull out of my garage before Sync fully boots. ...same as other Carplay dongles though.

I have bought and returned five dongles now through Amazon and I’m tired of the trial and error lol. I’ll take the long boot up in exchange for no lag.
