Break it down and its $45 a sensor for brand new genuine ford parts and comes with a training tool. I didn't need the tool, I just drove and they self learned with in a 1/4 mile.

Nobody needs to pay that much and Ford doesn’t make those sensors. They rebrand someone else’s. I have a $40 set that’s been in my wheels since 2020 and are flawless. Hit eBay…buy 315 MHz sensors for cheap and pocket the extra.

I’m sorry. I have to look to others for direction because of my mental illness. If I don’t, I’ll work myself into a panic trying to “not” make the wrong decision. I’ve already tried to explain this. One minute I get blasted for not wanting to spending a lot and the next I’m told to just buy something cheap! I don’t want to offend anyone and don’t want to be a source of drama so I’ll just refrain from asking here in the future.

I know, right? Sure, he asks a lot of questions but if that’s what he needs to do to make a decision, so be it! And don’t beat the guy up for trying to save a few hundred dollars in one post and then in another tell him to just buy something cheap! When I looked for tpms sensors I read the reviews and found that a lot of the cheap ones were failing after a few months if not right off the bat! So it’s a roll of the dice. I ended up going with a set that had a 3 year warranty and paid like $20 a sensor.

Thank you @GearHead_1 and @DaHuntah for your support! While I understand why they comment the way they do, it doesn't make it any easier. I do tend to rub certain people the wrong way because of how I am. I've dealt with it all my life. Mental illness, for the most part, is an unseen illness that people don't know you have so they assume you're like them. Unless, of course, you have a major disability and exibit obvious signs. They don't understand how a simple statement made to one person will have no affect but to someone struggling with Autism it can be damaging. It's not their fault for not seeing or understanding it though. We live in a screwed up society where, in one situation something may be harmless, but in another situation the same thing can be so detrimental. In here it is even more difficult for someone to recognize that a person has a mental illness. Sometimes it's better for me to just leave the situation rather than fight against it. I may be a bit sensitive due to the Autism but I'd be the first one there to lend a hand, give what you may need or take the shirt off my back for someone! I'll still lurk around the forum but you won't be seeing many posts from me anymore.

I had them installed yesterday with my new rims and tires and have driven over 50. I checked each tire and set them to 33 psi but the dash still hasn't changed. However, I'm not getting any messages either. Always gotta be something!

can you get TPMS19 tool. Try to run the manual relearn procedure. TPMS19 tool should wake up the sensor. There is no reason 315MHz should not work.

It most definitely should learn automatically. But some have reported that when it didn't, the manual method still works and the TPMS19 tool will activate the TPMS sensors.

I've done some reading and there are some that say you need a relearn tool and some say you don't. There also seems to be a difference between a "programming" tool and a "relearn" tool. I looked for the TPMS19 and found this one on Amazon. The title doesn't say it but the description calls it a TPMS19. Is it the right one? Thanks!

The fault message finally came on this morning. I received the TPMS19 this afternoon but it didn't do the trick. I put the vehicle into Relearn mode ok, but I couldn't get any response using the TPMS19. The horn is supposed to sound once the vehicle sees the sensor but nothing happens. I think the sensor batteries are dead. The seller gave me a refund, but it's still gonna cost me an extra $100 to have new ones installed.

Well that sucks. One reason I don't buy that sort of thing from Ebay nor would I trust they wouldn't be counterfeit. You can also test the other sensors. The relearn starts out at Left Front but if that one doesn't work, you can go to another wheel and test it. Car will honk if it's activated.

If you ask pretty much anyone here who to ask about wheel and tire questions…they’re gonna tell you to talk to me. Expert? Nah…but I know a thing or two.
Sounds like you got a bad sensor…because again, no relearn or set up process is required other than install and drive.
Next time you need a sensor just grab one for 10 bucks off eBay instead of paying Fords high prices for something they don’t even make.

I assume the procedure for TMPS sensors is the same for explorer 2017 XLT or your ST.

Do you know what could be the issue with the following:
- I have 1 bad TMPS sensor which car detects even after swapping wheels front to rear;
- I bought 1 new sensor from Ford dealership who was using my VIN to make sure I got the right one (F2GZ-1A189-A);
- Before installing sensor to tire, I went to one shop and they tried to read the signal from sensor but failed;
- I went to dealership and exchange it to a new one, tried to relearn it using grey tool + retrain mode. I managed to do it for first 2 sensors but the third one which I am trying to replace I tried new one and it did not work.

I read other forums and someone suggest to use OBD tool + forscan to remove existing sensors and try from a scratch (I have FORScan ELM327 and some old version of app itself)

They don't seem to be counterfeit. They were all in the original packaging. But your right, buying off eBay is a gamble. Not "any 315MHz sensor off eBay" will work.

That is untrue. A 315 MHz sensor doesn’t know what car it’s in…it simply sends a signal at that frequency. Any 315 MHz sensor will work.

If "any 315MHz sensor will work", then why aren't the ones I bought working? These are what I bought: TPMS Sensors. I followed the Relearn procedure and nothing happens. I think they are just old sensors and the batteries are dead. I'm not trying to be a jerk here but I think saying that "any" 315MHz off eBay will work is misleading because mine don't. Not unless they need to be programed to my vehicle. I was just going by what you said in another post about only needing to drive a little way and they would work.
