Does the PIU rear brace add any suspension stiffening that might help handling?
You mean rear swaybar? I've seen it posted here that the PIU swaybar is a couple mm thicker than non, but not as thick as an aftermarket like Steeda (which is 25mm I think). So yes, there is a difference.

The original thread is from 2021…I assume he meant the interior X brace. I read a while back it interferes with the seat mounting somehow so I never looked into it further.
Post number 2 is asking about rear shocks.
