Anyone want a chrome grill? Or have a black grill to sell?

Final cross-post, I swear. I picked up a 2020 Platinum, and am trying to un-chrome it. Anyone want to swap their black ST grill for my chrome PT grill? Or if you've replaced your front clip with a beefy bumper, or done a custom grill replacement, and want to recoup part of the cost from the black ST grill, I might be persuaded to buy instead of going through the pain of unmount and 2-3 days of plasti-dip spraying.

Keep the Platinum grill where it belongs and trade the SUV in for a a 2020 ST. You will enjoy the difference!

Probably, but if I'm going through all the nonsense of dissembly to paint or dip, my packrat tendencies say that I could just as easily hold the platinum grill spare in perfect condition.

Hah the wife enjoys the difference of heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, two-tone leathers and bucket 2nd row seats. Besides, we're already installing the Traxda lift kit and Black Horse steps to wean her off the lifted Jeep she was in before.

Thanks

You do realize that the ST has 3/4 of those items right? ;)

Yep. What does the ST have that the Platinum doesn't? Some trip for performance driving school I think? We already hit the track at VIR at least once/yr.

I was just teasing you. The Platinum is a sick truck. The only stuff the ST has that the Platinum doesn't is 400hp/415lb-ft (vs. 365/380 in Platinum), the black accents, bigger brakes, different suspension/shock tuning, bigger sway bars, and a different tune map for sport mode (trans shift points and throttle/steering response). And oh yeah, the driving school, which was really awesome.

I doubt you'll find anyone here who wants a chrome grille on their ST but you never know.

I'll happily miss out on the two tone seats to not have to walk up to the gawdy chrome bits on a platinum.

Ya no, I got that. I was told the Platinum had the same hp/tq figures as the ST. Hmmm. Was under the impression the platinum was just the ST with two-tone seats and chrome/polished nickel, but minus the driving school trip. I'll be talking to the dealer about some of that...
I'm good with swapping in larger sway bars, and already have the traxda lift kit and black horse steps on the bench for install whenever I have a couple free hours. But again, thought the brakes were exactly the same - coming from the Wrangler, so any brakes feel much better than what I'd been driving, brakes were the limiting factor for tow capacity on the Wrangler...

Aye, but you never know, maybe I'll get lucky. Would just save me 2 days of plasti-dip spray and dry on the grill.

Thanks for the quick lesson, folks, much appreciated!

Sounds like that is all they had on the lot and with Ford giving big rebates back due to the soft platinum sales, the sales guy worked his magic.

Bummer. I would be pissed if I was under that impression thanks to a sleazy sales guy. This is directly from Ford's website:

Also talk to @ZFGracing. Adam might know if the difference is made up by different internals to the engine itself or if its just tuning. If its just tuning/mapping, he can most likely get you sorted well above the 400hp mark. ;-)

Sounds like your dealer fed you some BS, sorry to say...

The new Platinum has the power of the former Sport model that was replaced by the redesigned new Explorer ST series. I agree that the saleman fed you a line without showing you the Explorer brochure with the various models and their differences.
