Anyone have problems with the hands free lift gate part. When backing into are garage sometimes it will open on its own. Also some times you can be opening another door and it will open. Or like tonight I walked pass the back of the car in are garage and did not have the key fob on me and the hatch opened up.

Definitely sounds like something's amiss. I would take it to the dealer.

I can’t get mine to work at all. Is there a setting I need to change? I also can’t open it manually unless I unlock the car.

There is definitely something wrong, something wrong with the sensor or the software.

Yes, there is a setting in the infotainment screen where you can disable the lift gate . Setting - Vehicle - Power Lift Gate - Enable/Disable.

I keep it disabled when I park because I don't have a very big garage and don't want to accidentally open it where it would hit the garage door.

Thanks! I’ll check it out.
I have found that the liftgate sensor is overly sensitive. It likes to open when i hook the boat trailer up or when loading groceries. I have shown my service rep at my dealership and she was able to reproduce it. I have also shown the sales guys the same issue with every ST they have on the lot. Service department says they cant fix it because ford has not registered it as an issue and therefore no known fix. For me, this only happens if the key fob is in my pocket but that is most of the time if im anywhere near the vehicle. I didn’t know about the ability to turn off the sensor, iwill have to try that. Wonder if ford will reimburse me for that feature?

The only way to disable it is in Setting in the infotainment screen. However, this to disable the switch basically it will disable the entire opening capabilities. So you cannot open the hatch at all in any way until you enable the switch again in settings.

I think you can still open it manually but it’s a heavy bitch.
