I wanted it mostly to watch live sports on the road through a portal app on my iphone called Carbridge.
Sadly, you have to jailbreak your phone but totally worth it for youtube (kids) & IPTV (live tv/sports). DRM are applied for apps such as Netflix, Disney+. The app itself works great on our lateral screens but even better with vertical screens IMO.
It's nice to watch the local news or even a big PPV event with others in the car on those road trips at night.
I experimented with Red Zone on a 2hr round trip one afternoon and check data before and after. It was about 4GB of data @ 60fps for those 2hrs. A full hockey game would range between 4.5-6GB
So to be a US customer on a yearly unlimited plan (
) and for someone that's ALWAYS on the road like myself would benefit me greatly, but for now just have to pick and choose which days to kill my data.
