5 Months in...a few issues

Absolutely love the ST I picked up in July 2020. Built in Jan 2020 for reference.

5 months in...

1) Driver seat bottom has a fold - material too lose on assy?
2) Small leather defect on back on steering wheel. Small bulge
3) Screen takes way too long to load at times (sometimes right away, sometimes about 30 seconds)
4) As a part of 3), at times it finds my USB stick right away, other times it takes about 30 seconds
5) High frequency rattle when playing music above level 14 (rap). Seems to be coming from the speaker mount on the passenger side
6) Fault - has happened twice, but does not find the drive mode (TFT shows gauges, but background is black). Takes about 30 seconds before changing the mode dial will work
7) Seat memory position does not recognize when the driver chair is pushed all of the way back - if I do a recall (shorter gf had been driving) then I get the seat returned, but about 3 inches too close - must do manually
8) Navigation system has frozen once. Had to do hard reset
9) Passenger side second row armrest spring snapped (mind you may have been my 5yr old playing with it). No dampening.

I guess it gives the car character...but having driven Japanese cars for years...I was a bit surprised to find these niggles only 5 months in.

10,000km in and averaging 11.8 l / 100km on 91 octane.

Anyone else notice that when in cruise control that the steering corrects itself (in addition to lane departure?). Cool feature!

Sure wish the exhaust made a ton of more noise

Where is the bulge? We have one on the right side of the steering wheel, dealer said it wasn't a defect

Back side on the right about 2/3rd down on the right horizonal wheel spoke. Maybe 1/4inch proud.

I have noticed several areas that rattle. Trying to pin them all down before I take it in. So far, one right above the driver side head (really annoying), the right side passenger where you mentioned (I think I pinned it down to the door lock/unlock peg), and in the third row, the starboard side rattles. Other than that, Sync seems to have some issues. Doesn't always recognize my phone and I get semi-frequent static and/or a short screeching noise.

Cruise control steering: It’s called Lane Centering. It’ll steer you through a curve too. Very cool feature.

#2 - Steering Wheel Bulge. I had a small piece sticking out right at the bottom/center of the wheel facing the footwell. It felt like just where an injection mold was done to make the wheel itself...not sure. I got out a good blade and just shaved it back myself. a bit disappointing it passed QA/QC, but this was built for price/performance, not luxury.

#3 - slow screen - mine got a bit quicker when I upgraded to the latest Sync build. I've also found to not mess with anything until the car has been up and running for 10seconds or so. Let it get booted up (like we did in the 90s...sigh) and then it's a lot more responsive.

#7 - seat position/memory - are you sure you're using the same key fob each time you get in the car? I believe the seat/mirror settings etc are stored with the fob that's in the car. If you use your second key to open the doors, it won't know what setting to use. I haven't tested this on mine, but I've had other cars that used the fob to determine the settings.

and yes, the adaptive cruise/lane centering is a very cool feature!

Haven't upgraded Sync. Good idea.

My gf has the other fob...and this is when my fob is the only one around. It's an odd quirk.

I tried to raise the window to quick after starting my ST. Whole door panel went dead. No window or mirror movement. 1000 miles from home, so I shut off the car, looked at fuses for about 10 minutes, decided to continue travel hoping for no rain. Started the ST up and everything worked. Lesson learned.

Similarly I tried to use the windshield washer immediately after starting the car once and the wipers worked but the washer pump did not work right away. A few minutes later it worked fine and was able to wash the rear and front windows.

Wow, reading at all your experience, looks like the ST does take a long time for things to completely boot up and be ready. I will keep this in mind before touching anything as soon as I start the car.

Like someone said it's like having dial-up internet back in the 1990s! LOL My 2013 MKZ had some of these issues too, where you literally had to push a button a second time for it to act like it's been asleep or something. On this vehicle the steering wheel buttons do the same thing and so does the sunroof button. Often I have to push a button twice. The other annoying slow reacting buttons is the touch sensitive keypad on the driver's door. My 2013 MKZ had the same red backlit buttons and was much more reactive.

On this vehicle the steering wheel buttons do the same thing and so does the sunroof button. Often I have to push a button twice.

I agree, the volume buttons on the steering wheel does Not respond at times and I have to press it multiple times for it to eventually work.

I have had the seat memory issue as well. Completely frustrating because its hard to recreate. My dealer replaced the seat positioning module in it but it didn’t fix anything. My issue is similar in that my wife and i each have our own setting and it never gets back to the correct position when we switch. It is always closer to the dash. We also find that the seat recall when turning the car off and then back again always inches ever so slightly forward. Put tape on rail and demonstrated that to dealer but ford does not recognize it as an issue yet.

And the Easy/Entry feature is also erratic. Each time it moves front or back based on it's own preference Not our preference.
