Sync 3 software update downloading

My previous builds of sync 3 would never allow an update to happen. It would always cancel out.

After updating to build 20136 manually at the Ford dealership, I am finally getting my first update downloading from the sync software. This thing is taking forever.

Anyone know what this new update does? Is it maps or an update to the software itself?

I have to check my sync version because mine has never prompted this. When I check for updates, it keeps saying I am up to date and I have never updated my sync till now.

If you're at Sync 3.4...Look at your Build#. That's what determines the latest version.

As I noted above, I needed a "manual update" to the latest build before my "updates" started working.

Could be the map update if you haven't done that. It should be NA119.

checked today, it is 20136 so probably that's why I am not getting any updates since I am already up to date

I have had multiple updates on both our Explorers. Just ensure you connect to your homes wifi. Generally happens over night. Some of these can be quite large so I would not recommend waiting for them to complete.

The new version of Sync is 3.4.20282. It was not available OTA WIFI yet but I installed it from a USB drive in under 30 minutes on my way to work. I parked and left the USB in until 2 hours later started the car and the update was complete with no errors. I noticed no visual differences to my screens yet but the remote start and lock/unlock takes half as long to happen on the FordPass app. My last update was 20136 from a few months ago over WIFI. This was my first time trying to download to USB and install. Overall, it happens much faster probably due to my weak wifi signal in my driveway at home. Just has a few extra steps that's all. Compared to Sync 1 and 2, this one updates much faster.

Where do mere mortals like the rest of us obtain this update on USB?

You can log into the Ford (owner.ford.com) site and enter your VIN. If there is an available update for your vehicle it will give you instructions of how to put it on a thumb drive.

It was mentioned on here before. But if you park close enough to your house and connect your vehicle to the house WiFi. It will do the update for you so you don't have to wait around in the vehicle.

Yes I understand. However another member mentioned he had a newer update that he installed from USB. my question was where do we download the file and put it on USB?

There is a newer update but I believe something was wrong with it, so Ford went back to a more stable update version. That's what I was told when I was talking to the guy they hired to manually update mine at the dealership.

Ford Owner site: owner.ford.com

There's a box that says Update Sync 3. Just follow that. That's how I updated to 20282

Seen a difference in the 20282 from 20136 version?

Mine says updated but I'm on 20136.. that is why I was asking about the USB install.

interesting. Maybe they did pull 20282. I think it was a worldwide release though. You could also get it from cyanlabs but you do have to follow the instructions very carefully if you do.

Just checked owner.ford.com and entered my vin #. I have an update available to 20282. Going to start my car and see if I can update via wifi.
