… update - @ 4,600. No vibrations, noises, but lots of fun. Had it out on I-495 yesterday for about 20 mi. I was intentionally in the right lane @65 MPH. Nothing. The guy with me even commented how it was so smooth - especially pulling a 5,500 lb. travel trailer. He couldn't tell we were pulling anything. I could tell, but certainly no issues.
In a prior life, I put about 500,000 mi in Peterbilts, mostly pulling liquid fuels, but also a few pulling a 40' box.

It's not the wheels or tires. It's in the drive train. Key words; in neutral it's fine......that eliminates wheel or tire issues. I hope they figure it out soon for the few that have to deal with this.
Just curious, did they check the transmission fluid levels? A lot of the explorers have the transmission fluid leak so wondering if this is related to it.

I have yet to see an Attempted repair order so idk. Never mentioned to me but I'm thinking this would be obvious prior to driveshaft change out.

Was tossing the idea of a palisade or Telluride as a replacement. Well I started checking the forums on those. Unreal. Talk of buy backs and driveline vibration is a big problem on some. Top it off with Hyundai corporate seemingly very poor customer service and lacking product support. No thanks.

I actually joined the telluride forum because I was looking to buy one instead of the ST and i didnt see as much problem posts as we had. Guess I was wrong.

So I yesterday drove a demo st with 5k miles, build date 10/19. It vibrated. From a stop, and at varying speeds, intermittently. Even the salesman with us noted and commented on the vibration.
My service guy wasnt kidding when he wrote on work order that "other st on lot with demo miles also vibrate". Considered the norm for these is what he is saying. He also agrees it's not right.
I test drove a brand new one 50 miles on it, build date 12/19, no vibration at all. YET.

So I got my ST back to remove personal items and misc accessories before it gets turned in on the buy back for next week. now 2700 miles and the vibration is intermittent and at varying speeds and definitely prominent when compared to the platinum loaner we had for 3500 miles which had zero vibration. Same with the 2.3l xlt we had for 1500 miles.....no vibration.
Going to find another demo with 2k+ miles and test drive. If scenario is similar, we will not be buying another 2020 ST.
Wife and I are heart broken right now because we love everything about the ST.

Yeah so sad my wife and I love the ST too.

I joined the atlas forum and the telluride forum and they have their own issues. I'm really not sure what car to get if I dont go with the ST now.

So we test drove a 6/19 build ST with just over 9500 miles on it today. Happy to report that it drove fine with no issues I could detect. No noises, no vibes, no malfunctions at all.

Adrenaline, You're right, I missed that in my first read. I have intentionally tried reproducing this on a new smooth asphalt road near by, with tires at 33 lbs, and even over inflated to 37 lbs (thinking stiffer tires would exacerbate any vibrations at such low speeds). Just over 3K on the odo no bad vibes. Hope you find the one you want.

Buyback has been approved. Awaiting details.
Really want a replacement ST, but I was told they all vibrate (district area service rep bigwig) so I'd be a fool to do so......or I'm being given misinformation just to blow me off. Either case, that's not comforting.
Thoughts?
I’ve test driven many STs and none had the vibration until I put my order in and got a loaner Limited AWD. It shudders and vibrates from 20-35 often.

I had a loaner platinum for over 3k miles, it had zero issues. I'm told the ST had different driveshaft and rear diff.

t drive with dealer agent at least two other new ST Explorers and see if either has the same problem. If not, tell them you want to get one without the problem. I have 1600 miles and no problem as described. Sounds as if hing in drive train out of balance or possible automatic issue in lower gears.

I have this same problem, and it definitely has to do with the gears.
Particularly around 30-40 MPH. When driving in 'normal' or 'eco' mode, the car typically wants to run in the 30 MPH range in 6th gear.. That's when the vibration happens. Every time I feel that vibration start, I pop the car in to manual mode and check what gear it's in. Typically it's in (in my opinion at least) too high of a gear for the speed you're going.. I've replicated the problem by going in to manual mode, shifting to 6th gear, and driving around 33-34 MPH... The vibration will start, then if I downshift to 5th gear or 4th and stay at the same speed, the vibration goes away instantly... Also when I'm driving in 'normal' mode and I feel the vibration, I'll go to manual and pop it down a gear or two and the vibration goes away immediately.
I'm wondering if a custom tune will get rid of this problem since it will change the shift points in the car. I'm looking in to the 5 Start Tune... I can let you know how it goes. Beyond that, I don't know how to fix that or if a dealership can fix that issue... Certainly open to suggestions though!

If I ever have a problem with the gear that I am in, I just use the paddle shifters to change it. You might try to dohat a few times to see if if it :learns: from the repeated changes.

Not sure if my problem us the same as yours, but I searched and found this post of yours. Mines is basically a rumble noise/vibration when letting of the gas and letting the car coast from 40mph to 30 mph. When I go in neutral it's not a bad.

It is hard to describe the rumble, but it hits more my ears than like a physical vibration. Feels like engine braking or something but it's not doing that.
Mine start to do the same this week. Got my ST since November. The noise sound like a Jake (Jacob) break on a truck.... Any clue?

Hey, so I did finally find the issue with my vibration, it was the flex pipes in the exhaust. Ford has a service notice out about the flex pipe... Their solution was to add some worm gears around the pipe.. that won't work. They need to replace them. I had mine replaced and have had no issues since.

My dealer ordered the driver side flex pipe which was rattling and will be replaced soon.

Hell yes I have an idea. That jake break sound was exactly what I was hearing at 1500 rpm. Turned out the pointy end of the driver mid-pipe hanger ahead of the muffler was almost touching a black thin bracket between the floor board and the heat insulation above the driver mid-pipe. When the exhaust would heat up the hanger would touch and vibrate against the black thin bracket between the floor board and the heat insulation above the driver mid-pipe. Heated up the hanger rod and bent it back an extra 3/8 ich to ensure no contact with the black thin bracket between the floor board and the heat insulation above the driver mid-pipe. Mine was with the Magnaflow midpipes but the factory midpipe hangers could be similar. No jake brake rattle any more. Dealt with it for a month. Watch the attached video to determine if thats the same sound your hearing. It occured anytime the engine hit 1500 rpm.

I'll ask them to look at it at my next oil change. Thanks for letting me know. At least I'll have something top say if they tell me that there's no problem...
