Yes, got factory extended although it's been so long since I made the deal (still waiting on the car) that I can't remember which one I picked. I should probably look that up LOL. But long story short, always say yes to the extended warranty. Paid double for itself on the old car when I had to have most of the front end rebuilt. $3300 repair bill turned into $300, and most of that was for a coolant service I was having done at the same time.

Never. Very few people make out great by getting them but MOST do not.

Nope. Never had much of any issues on any of my cars before 10 years or 100,000 miles. This is my first Ford though so we'll just have to see.

With modern vehicles requiring so many special tools for service, not to mention all the technology, the Ford ESP is well worth it. But...you have until the 3/36 point to buy it, and many dealers sell them online for about half of what your selling dealership will charge. Bought the 8/100 Platinum plan for my ‘14 Sport and it was only about $1500. With some suspension work and a couple other return trips, it has paid for itself. Will get the same plan for my ST a year or two down the road.

Agree that Ford ESP worth it based on pastn experiences, firs with 93 Explorer, 2005 Explorer and then 2014 Explorer. All had issues from transmissions to electronics and ESP covered each issues without pain or extra expense. A review of what the cost of parts and labor would have been put me way ahead with ESP in every case. Got a 7 year plan for my 2020 ST as the more tech on these vehicles means way more costly repairs when needed beyond the standard warranty.

An 8/100 warranty will run a little over $1500 if you buy it from one of the vendors on the web, as I had mentioned. If you go with the dealership price at the time of vehicle purchase, plan to spend about double that.

Declined them all but ran the numbers and the whole lot was north of $7k. Got a good deal from Flood Ford on a Ford 8/125 and added lights. Received confirmation in a day and the warranty was in my Ford Pass app in less than a week.

Good call. Ford ESP is the only way to go. Flood is a good source, as is Lombard (they are both up in the NE), and some others that have comparable prices.

Seems worth it on this vehicle with all its gadgets. I did not see heated seats, or sun roof mention in covered list. Hmmmm. Thoughts?

My $.02 is they're included. The warranty is Ford-generic, not Explorer-specific. Because not every vehicle has heated seats or a sunroof they're probably not listed. In any event, it's exclusionary and there's nothing in that section that I think suggest either item would not be covered. In the "Electrical" section, it states: "Power Mirrors (Electrical Only – Not Mirror or Glass Damage or Bulbs)." To me, this equates to the sunroof in that the motor would be covered but not glass breakage or a seal leak - those are expressly excluded although I suspect if you've got water leaking in after a few months' service Ford's probably not going to push back very hard.

There are a number of warranties included from the engine and drive train to some of the electronics. However, they have different terms of inclusion of items number of months. ESP goes beyond the basic warranty and there are also ESP for different categories from certain electronics to tires and rims. If you plan to keep the vehicle for only three years, no ESP probably worth it. For longer periods, it can be. Best to read all the policies and discuss what is included and the limitations.
