Thought this might be helpful for anyone tracking their car's location. I found this on another thread to track the rail cars. I don't have an update on mine but it just shipped out today so maybe an update tomorrow. :) https://www.raptorforumz.com/threads/how-to-track-your-truck-by-rail-car-see-inside.13007/

In case you haven't found a site that shows how to track your truck by rail...here you go.

First you will need the rail car letters and numbers. It is on the visibility report or DORA which is from the dealership. You MAY be able to get it from the SVT people but they seem often in a cranky mood and may tell you to get it from the dealer. (Also found here: On the top of your Window Sticker you should see "9-Normal" followed by 2 letters (Rail Car Initials) and a 6 digit number (Rail Car Number).)

Mine was two letters and 6 numbers from what I remember.

There are two major rail companies.

CSX is everything east of the mississippi
UP is everything west of the mississippi

But they all start out on CSX so once they have it in their system they will follow it all the way.

So, how do you track your truck on a railcar?

First and most important. Never talk to live personnel at the railroad! Only use automated phone system. If it attempts to transfer you to a live person please hang up. The railcar information we are provided by is given as a courtesy and if we call live personnel we may lose the access and ability to track.
CSX
1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say CN (or whatever initials you have) then wait for the next prompt.
4. When prompted for the car number, say 907048 (or whatever your number is)
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.
6. That's it; enjoy your updated status report.

Union Pacific
1. Call UP at 1 800 877-5123 1 800 877-5123
2. Follow phone prompts for Trace
3. Say the railcar number complete and clearly. Example CN123456 all together
4. Listen for your update

These automated systems can be frustrating. Keep in mind they are intended for use by folks that use them daily all day long. Like I said if you are being transferred to a live person please hang up and try again.

Ugh so my car was delivered this morning. Notified this evening. Dealer says I can’t pick up tomorrow. Too short of notice I guess with their inspections they need to do. I’m sure there’s more to it, but like come on. Make sure there’s no damage and then give me the car. I’ll remove plastic, wash car.

Tell them that. Seeing that it's a busy Saturday around the holidays I wouldn't be suprised if they wanted to keep it around to try to sell more of them..I'd do a drive by and take a look

Did they at least agree to have their "detailer" leave the car alone when you called?

unfortunately I’m 1.5 hrs away. Which makes a weekday pickup difficult with work, my kids, etc. I’m sure a lot of people say that but like I’m trying to work with them. Do the bare minimum for your standard inspection, I’ll do the rest.

you mean make their lot seem more full?

but yeah, my wife was like just show up and say you’re here for my car lol

Umm I told the girl and emailed the manager. I honestly can’t say they fully acknowledged it but I’ve told them 4 times now. I emailed them back this evening saying I guess I’ll just drive up Monday evening right after work.

I may call in the morning and see. Like I’m sure anyone for the most part can do this inspection. I know it’s a high volume dealer and I’m not totally surprised this happened. But I was hoping they would accommodate. Especially since I’m saying it doesn’t even need to be handled by a detailer or setup. Just make sure no damage, and hand it over. Ugh. I know, there’s plenty of other worse things that could be worse in life. So it’s all good. Just anxious as you all know lol

and honestly, I hateeee when my vehicles sit in a dealer lot. Just asking for something to happen.

Yup I'm with you about the car sitting in the lot. Did you ask them not to put the their badge on the car too? Just another thing to remove. I'm already working on getting the car setup for ceramic coating. It's likely going straight from the dealer to the detailer, so I'd much rather let my guy do the work.

I did not mention the badge. Would they really do that to a brand new car?? I can see used cars but they better not place their badge on it. I hope continuous efforts in telling them not to wash it and that I’d happily take it as is off the truck with plastic, they get my point.

So then I expect a report on 2 things when you finally get to pickup. If they badged it, and the cup holder light situation. :)

Every dealer I know has badged or stickered a car that came from them, new or used. It's free advertising and most people can't be bothered to remove them.

I hear you with trying to carve out the time with kids and having to travel. We have to go about 2-2.5hrs also.

Yes, kind of...some dealers like to keep things on display to generate more sales through "Eye Candy" and seeing that alot of places are running empty on inventory and Ford not filling stock orders I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to hold it for a few days. It gives potential customers to see something they want in person and allow the vultures to swarm and try to land a sale...and possibly drive it...

Your wife is on to something! Might want to book a hotel just in case you don't get what you want lol

Take a heat gun and extension cord with you then take it off in the parking lot after you get the paperwork done:) Have the sales person plug it in for you:p

Dealer texted at 5:30pm that my Explorer has landed and I can pick it up in the morning when they finish their inspections. I don't think I can sleep tonight. FYI Order placed September 1 2021.

Yeah see, what the heck. It was round 5pm yesterday evening they told me mine was arrived as well. I actually know it arrived at 730 am from the shipping site.
But your dealer said you can pick up in the morning? Like, these inspections cannot take that long. I understand some dealers are handling more cars than others but I would also expect those marvel volume dealers also have more employees.
