Explorer ST reducing the 60ft

Hi everyone, I’m looking for suggestions on how to reduce the 60ft when launching my 2021 ST. I raced high powered Mustangs for a few years and understood what needed to be done to get them to hook and pull 1.4 and 1.5s 60fts. Stickier tires, aftermarket suspension parts, torque converters with a higher stall, and actually being able to heat the tires, etc.

I made quite a few pulls using Dragy and I was hoping for better. I am running the ZFG 93 Tune and running a 13.27 1/4 and a 2.05 60 foot. I love the tune so it’s probably just me and suck at launching the AWD ST.

Please share your experience with launching your ST and what you did personally to get below 2.0. Suspension, tires, etc. I would greatly appreciate any insight you may be able to share. Thanks in advance

Shove the brake pedal to the floor…hard. Bring the RPM up to 2800ish and let it eat. They can 1.7x 60’ pretty easily.

Crazy! Most ive done is 2k, even then, it feels like the SUV wants to take off.

Is it even needed to remove the traction control? I mean dont think ive ever seen one nor myself's, heard it lose traction on a stock ST.

You need to load up the convertor and get it up on boost when you launch. That will make a big difference in your 60' and 1/4 mile times.

Just mashing the throttle, you are initially launching with no boost and the puny 3.0 has maybe 250 hp and 225 tq w/o boost.

That would explain one of my mistakes. I have been leaving at 2k

I guess I have been scared of the missing bolt in the subframe of my 2021 I’ll make some better launches and report back

Lol yeah I’ve been afraid to go higher. I’m completely stock but curious to see what a proper boosted launch feels like.

Sport mode on, traction control off. You should be able to get mid to low 12's pretty easily.

What was your trap speed in those runs?

Exactly what @Exploderst those traps look to be from a stock ST. Your 1/4 mile times as well are not too far off from a stock ST either.

Made one pull a few minutes ago and it was a lot better. I turned off traction control but not advanced traction. The shift from 1st to 2nd was brutal. Going to do some data logging and send it to Adam. Should I have launched like that when I sent him the original data logs?

I dont turn off anything, just peg to 2500ish and drop.

That being said, if you want a smoke show, hold TC for 5 seconds and all Ford's gizmos go for a smoke break.

You can see around 1200M I hit the brakes. On crappy Detroit roads, spun until 3rd gear. Easily these are 1.7x cars on any NHRA strip. Honestly, I want to start a 60-100 thread. If we can see compare those acceleration times, I think those are more opportunistic for the daily driver. Screenshot_20220227-161559_dragy.jpg
