I do this regardless of make/model. I dropped even a thought of a GM junk product way back in 1980. The Govt Motors was junk then as it is now. At least Ford (mainly Republican) still builds enthusiast vehicles vs the GM (mainly Democrap) junk.

The Trackhawk has been the second best built vehicle to date. I had a 15 Chevy SS, built by Holden in Australia, which had overall better build quality than the Hawk. I would have kept the SS but I injured my left knee and it was a six speed stick. Great color on the SS, Some Like It Hot Red Metallic, almost a metallic orange.

Since we honestly don't know what the end fix is yet, we are all just coming to conclusions and rightfully so when they mention programing the PCM to fix the issue. Honestly if the fix is changing the launch and softer shifts, this will dramatically change how the vehicle feels. Is this actually allowed? It would not be the same vehicle you bought or have been driving for 1+ Years for many of us.

• Get Ford's pcm flash and experience a probable reduction in acceleration
• Refuse the pcm flash and void your warranty if anything happens to the rear drivetrain because you didn't get the flash
• Get Ford's pcm flash, remove it with a tune (when available), and void your warranty because Ford (as does every manufacturer) makes use of pcm flash counters

And if you don't get the flash, for the entire life of vehicle ownership every time you require dealer service you will constantly have to remind them not to flash the car (which then brings up the question that if you refuse to apply a Ford recall, will they even work on your car?).

Now I'm merely speculating, but wouldn't it be great that if Ford's flash reduced initial standing start acceleration, that they would avoid consumer lawsuits and compensate by adding more boost after initial launch?

I understand they wont take any power away , but they will need to take the some of the strain off the mount. I only see this done by changing how the launch and shifts are done (especially in Sports mode) this will change how the vehicle drives...it would not be the same vehicle we purchased from our initial test drive and the years we had it. We know it is because the one less bolt...its does not apply to the Lincoln models that have the correct subframe on all of them. So this honestly does not seem to be bolt hardening issue (basically any issues with the bolts).

I just called my Ford service dept again, I asked about the recall and they said the vehicle would need inspection first and then the part would be ordered if needed. So this really has me curious now. So I have a appt on 5/2 at 7:40AM more to come on that.

Didn't realize a pcm flash was a "part." Lol Or more likely, the person you spoke to just assumed a "part" was involved and responded accordingly.

This recall of ours is similar to my following of global news for the past couple of years. More confusing than it is informative.

doubtful....the only thing I can see causing a warranty issue on a fail would the install of those aftermarket braces

This advance notice is the only information available to dealers as of right now. It says there will be an update sent via dealer bulletin at the end of Q2 (June) which will then provide more information.

From this advance notice, my service manager said it looks like any NON-POLICE with a matching VIN will get a PCM flash while POLICE vehicles matching that name will get an actual part replacement.

Any other dealership saying anything else more specific than that should provide proof because they are just saying what you want to hear. This notice is the only information available to a dealer as of right now.. along with a VIN list.

We can factory order Explorers still but with the obvious constraints such as rear climate controls, auto start stop, MCS, and heated rear seats.

Any Explorer sitting on the lot that falls under the VIN list for the recall... we literally can not deliver until we fix it.. aka after June.

I could be wrong, but isn't the PCM update just to activate the electronic parking brake when in park? The way I read it was that the recall isn't necessarily to "fix" the issue, it is to mitigate potential safety hazards.
