Both the Ford Pass app and Ford website show that I have a SYNC update for my recently delivered '22.
Scanning for updates in the vehicle shows no update.
My SYNC 3 version is 3.4.21194.
Navigation Maps version is NA 2 20.
I don't really care about the navigation update, but should I force the SYNC update via USB? Does it have better features or improvements over my current 21194?

I would update it with the USB. I do like keeping my software on every thing as up to date as I can. Been home bound since the update so i can't say if there are any noticeable changes of not.
I got both the Map and Sync updates installed over the past couple of days. I had zero luck trying to download the Maps from Ford. I bit the bullet and had them send me a thumbdrive for $40. I let the Auto Updates download the new version of the Sync system software. Ford's website in my opinion needs a little work to get the downloads on line.
That looks like a screen shot from his Ford Pass app or account.
I updated both my Sync 3 and new map update today. Between the two, there was several hours of download and installation time. It wasn't difficult, just LONG.

I just did the map update a couple of days ago. It took 2.5 hours to download to my computer, 45 minutes to copy to a USB drive (make sure to format it using exFAT) and then 1.5 hours for it to upload to the ST. Not overly difficult, but lots of opportunity for error when waiting hours to complete a computer operation.
The map update is over 11 gigs and took over 3 hours to download on my laptop.... I have gig internet so there site is slow. Not sure I would even attempt it in the car.
My Map update failed several times. After 5 hours I thought I had it only to fail again. At this point, the website would no longer allow me to attempt the download but offered me the $40 thumbdrive. I spent several hours talking to the Sync specialist by way of Chat and on the phone. That was a real joke. Interestingly the update for Maps took twice as long loading on the Exploder than the Sync and Map update did on my truck. Go figure.
Oh that’s pretty cool. I’ve seen that done on previous gen explorers too.
I tried again this morning to do WiFi but nothing happens. Guess I’ll just download it. Just hate to let it run when it should jsur download in the background. But you said 20min to install? That’s not too bad.
