So were you charged for the repair? I wouldn't be ok with that if they are unable to repair it
I have not paid for anything yet. Car has been in the shop for a week now.

My next follow up. They're saying the brand new wheel is bent but can't see any signs of damage anywhere else I'd be pointing at defect or something that they should help you with for sure. Gonna come down to the dealer and the shop. The fact that they're on your side agreeing with the issues helps a lot.
Just to be clear, the bent wheel is the original one from the time of manufacture, not a new replacement. I am hoping that somehow I can get that bent one replaced under warranty since there are no visible signs of impact on the tire or wheel.

Yet another update. The dealership is sending the wheel off to another repair vendor for a second option. Service department manager said it would not be warrantable to replace the wheel. However, if the second repair vendor also says its unrepairable they will contact Ford to start a financial assistance case to replace the wheel (what ever that means). I have contacted Ford directly to see if there is anything that they can do and they are looking into it.

I have a hard time believing that you wouldn't have felt a tire that requires that kind of weight to balance, positioned anywhere on the vehicle. I guess what I'm saying is, that I don't think it came from the factory like that. Something has happened somewhere along the way. If you did it, you'd have known it. Since you only felt this after a recent service that's where I'd be looking.

Yep, and good luck trying to prove negligence on the dealerships part. If it's not resolved one way or another this week, I'll bite the bullet on a new wheel to get this over with.

The dealership is paying for a 2022 Q7 rental until it's fixed so checking all the boxes before I pull that trigger on a new wheel.

I called them out on what they quoted me mentioning that Ford's website has them listed for $1,100. Just another issue that I took directly to Ford.

Good to know. Hoping to have some answers today regarding the second opinion on the bent wheel and if we need to go the new wheel route. If we go the new wheel route, the dealership is opening a financial assistance case with Ford. From my understanding, Ford pays some (if not all) of the cost and I pay the rest.

It's really all about the principle at this point. I don't mind whatsoever paying $1,100 for a new wheel but after all the shit I've been through up to this point, I'm making the dealership put the work in.

Got it back today with no issues. Checked to make sure they didn't add a ton of weight to make up for the damage. Ford ended up dropping the cost due to the time and frustration spent on the issue.

Excellent! Not sure what your time and frustration per hour equals but in the end nothing out of pocket is a good thing.

Being a conspiracy person after dropping my vehicles off at the dealer there are always porters that drive our vehicles in/out for service. Wonder if some asshole decided to jump a speed hump and damaged your wheel? Just a thought? Doesn’t matter now, just trying to figure out what may have happened.

I'm glad i'm not the only person thats paranoid like that. Once I got car back and asked why they unplugged my dash cam before they took car for test drive? They were quick to apologize for that one. Just frustrating when you have to be paranoid all the time. Always our word against them.

OP states he drove it after dealer service with no issue and, IIRC, it took about a week of having it back before he noticed the vibration

This was a weird situation to say the least. Either, I didn't realize there was a vibration at first or it was subtle and got worst over time. The craziest part is that both the repair vendor and Ford have no idea how this would have happened without a hard side impact. There was zero visible signs of damage on both the wheel and tire. Fast forward to last week when I took it into a local shop to get an exhaust installed. The shop owner pointed out chipped paint on the caliper and an area on the rotor where he said it looked like someone locked up the brakes recently. I have never locked up the brakes so it has me thinking that maybe the dealership took my car out for a "test drive" during that oil change and tire rotation before any issues and did something. Granted, this is all speculation and who knows what really happened.

I'd like to know what a rotor looks like that has had the brakes locked up over a month ago with what would have had to been abs activation and then driven a couple hundred of miles after the fact.
