Most times when I park my ST in the garage and get out of the vehicle, the doors lock automatically before I even have a chance to open the back doors. Is this a setting? They don’t do it every time. Gets annoying when I just want to grab something from the back seat but the doors lock before I can get there.

Are you touching the outside door handle when you close the front door? You may be accidently touching the intelligent access sensor and locking the doors.

Good thought. No, not doing that. Being careful not to actually thinking the same thing. Just now it didn’t do it at all. Weird!

Walk away Auto locks is one feature I'm missing from my last car.

But since Ford don't have it, locking might be because of a stuck lock button. Just check the remote, inside door lock buttons.

Also check for water/ ice/ dirt accumulation on any of the four touch sensors. That can trigger the locks as well.

Other thing that might trigger this is if there is some short circuit or pinching of wires.

Lincolns have walk-away locks. I wonder if this can be enabled using FORSCAN? Anyone give it a try?

So I understand correctly. The engine is not running and the ignition is off You get out of the vehicle and close the door by not touching the door handle or touching the keyless entry pad. The door closes and then immediately locks. Is that the correct sequence?

You have somehting wrong with your vehicle then. Even if the vehicle was equipped with walk away locking you have to be further away from the vehicle in order for it to lock. As far as I know Ford or Lincoln has never produced a vehicle with walk away locking.

OK thanks. I did shut off a setting and it seems to have stopped but I’ll keep my eye on it.

Exactly what did you shut off? I have never seen an option for that. Can you describe the menu item?

Wish I could tell you. What I may not have said is that it did not happen every time. I’m thinking it had to be something I was doing. I don’t know what it was but must have been.

Since you mentioned this occurs when your ST is parked in the garage, why are you taking the key fob with you? Just keep the key fob in the ST, as designed, and you will never have this issue again.

Ford doesn't have walk away locking, but it auto sets the parking brake. Brilliant! My 2008 Cadillac has walk away locking as does my Honda. Fobs are designed to be kept on your person, not in the car.
