Hello all, I am new to the forum and ford community after recently switching from Chevy. Im from SouthWest Michigan but am now stationed in Minot, North Dakota. I’m absolutely in love with my explorer and can’t really complain about much. There are a few things though that I’ll ask about. This is my first vehicle with a turbo and I know next to nothing about them. Down the road I will be going all out and making this thing a speed demon but for now, I’m starting small.

First question, I just ordered the Turbo Smart Dual Port BOV from Lethal performance as well as the K&N drop in filter. I really want the most out of this BOV in terms of sound. What can I do to make it even louder when it’s kicking out that excess boost?

Second question, I want to hear my turbos significantly more than I do now. When I had my Camaro, turbos was an option I was looking into and often these turbos had “screamer” upgrades to make them, well, scream. Is there something like that for the explorers stock turbos? I really want to hear them WHISTLE and flutter and what not.

Third and Final question, what are some must have modifications to improve engine performance? If you have cosmetic upgrades, I’d love to hear those as well. (Future plans, 5% tint all around, 15% ceramic tint on whole windshield, 22” gloss black vossen rims, and lowering springs. As well as tinted taillights and headlights.)

Thanks in advance and I can’t wait to hear back from the community!

I think the BOV will be perfectly loud enough with the K&N.

Second question, I want to hear my turbos significantly more than I do now. When I had my Camaro, turbos was an option I was looking into and often these turbos had “screamer” upgrades to make them, well, scream. Is there something like that for the explorers stock turbos? Exhaust and downpipes are really the only solution. Check out Thermal R&D 3 IN. exhaust.

Okay, thanks a lot! Do you happen to know if there’s a way I can program my car to do certain things upon execution? For example, when I remote start it, I want the headlights to turn and hazards to flash. Or when I manually turn my hazards on, they strobe. Just some sort of thing where I could program something like that

I believe you can change Remote Start settings through the Instrument Cluster. Don't think you cam have the hazards strobe.
