Hey guys, large screen here, its never given me a problem until last week but now everytime I restart the ST it reverts back to auto mode for the night/day display settings. I always keep it in dark mode and this is becoming pretty annoying. Any thoughts on how to correct this?

Have you tried a soft reset?

Same problems for the past two weeks for me.
Hard/Soft reset is not going to fix it. Nor does a software update.

I made my peace with it and let it do its own thing now.
It is haunting a lot of people lately. No fix from Ford till date.
Just waiting for a stable update

The display and background setting is the most subtle symptom which starts the ordeal of no retention of many settings due to lack of memory. I've been dealing with this for almost 2 months. A master reset helped at first until the memory got full again. The most annoying things are radio defaulting to FM instead of satellite, only 2 pages of preset channels, half a navigation map and FordPass disconnecting.

Let me guess... you are on sync version 22251.

How about bringing that insight to this forum? After all, that's what it's here for.

To everyone having issues with 22251 forgetting it’s settings, Nav only showing half the screen, etc let’s hope 23088 is the fix.

I installed it tonight so I should know by the end of the week.

The issues I had with sync 22251 after every key cycle:
Radio would default to FM or radio starts on "station 0 - SSID"
Nav only shows bottom half of the screen (intermittent)
Couldn’t make it show more than 2 pages of presets
Ambient lights would be off
Infotainment Display theme would default to auto
Apply CarPlay notification would display
Ford connect settings acceptance popup
Wouldn’t remember Wi-Fi network
Pixelation if camera image, like outlines of thing are pixelated, not the whole screen.

Update time!

23088 did NOT fix the issues and they came back within about 2 days.

Turns out when comparing the software data 23088 is almost identical to 22251 as a program package. It still has the issue of rwdata not dumping periodically, which is causing the APIM to change settings back to factory defaults because it is out of memory.

The rwdata should have 500-700Mb available at any given time

22251 always had 0Mb available space in rwdata
23088 I had 0-29Mb available in rwdata

I did however fix the issue.

I downgraded back to 22200. I now have 600-700Mb available in rwdata and all of my settings are holding strong for the last week. I check my rwdata size daily and it has never gotten lower than 600Mb available.

Initially I tried a few times to install and had memory errors and it would fail.

In order to downgrade I had to do a master reset and then 2 soft resets back to back, then I had enough space for the install to start and complete successfully.

I think it goes without saying but I’m going to say it anyways for the people who need to read it:
DO NOT Re-connect to Wi-Fi, and disable automatic updates after downgrading to 22200. If you connect to Wi-Fi it will download/install 22251 again and you’ll be back to the crap version.

To consolidate this post and post #14

Program you need
How to setup the program
Use the USB it creates like you would normally.

Mine is so bad I can't complete a master reset. I tried several times.

Do 2-3 soft resets back to back, then do a master reset and try again.

How do I get the older version of Sync 3? I still have 22251 on my USB drive but that's the bad one.

Going to try this tonight, this things really starting to grind my gears. Throwing an EVAP code this week too, really making me want to boot it and go back to a truck with less bells and whistles.

Well worked for like a week... back to the same b.s. (even turned auto update off so it wouldn't try to download the new files again.)

You are on 22200? Have you run an interrogator to check rwdata?

Hard reset/soft reset merely frees a little rwdata space but it will not last. You need to use that free space to downgrade to at least 22200 using cyanlabs Sync3Updater.

This is ridiculous and Ford should be fixing this free of charge! I refuse to tinker with this any more or ask the dealer to look at it.
