I have a 2022 ford explorer st. I always warm up the car before taking in for a drive. I have noticed that when in sport mode the car has a hard shift from 3rd to 4th gear it feels like it's going to miss the gear depending on how hard I throttle it. It happens only on the initial drive when I first take it out and after that it doesn't do it. Not sure what the issue is or if it's even normal.

Another question is should I be putting 91 octane or is it safe to use 87? I've been using 91 for a bit ibwouldnt mind dropping to 87 not sure how the car would react

Mine runs fine on 87 octane. The cost is so much less here it just makes sense.

I was also mixing it up, until I went for ST experience drive. When I asked about it to the Ford performance team, they suggested premium fuel for the twin turbo engine. Now I fill only premium, but I don't notice any difference between the 87 and 91 on my daily drives in LA.

Never mind the octane. A hard 3-4 shift is not normal. I'd get that checked out.
