Well guys, after months of waiting, my dealer came through. They found another explorer for me, same thing that I bought but without the 360 camera. Dealerships are getting new explorers in that have the 360 deleted. They drove to another dealership to pick it up and brought it back for me! Thank goodness this is all over.
I hope everyone else can have a happy ending soon!!!
Here is my new 2023 Limited
Congratulations! I was hopeful this could happen for us. I emailed two dealerships last week asking them to keep me in mind if they got any 360-deleted Explorers on the lots. Thank you for this encouraging news and... ENJOY YOUR NEW CAR!

Update on my order:

Order in March 25, in production Aug 21, built Aug 25 and shipped Aug 28 with the 360 delete credit. Will arrive at dealership on Sept 4.

For the life of me i don't understand why they didn't give the built orders sitting in Chicago the option of doing the 360 delete or waiting for the fix. I would think this could also be performed at the dealer and they could have kept some customers happy.

I also ordered in March... but mine was built in the last week of July... and they instituted the 360 delete August 10 I believe. So I'm guessing deleting the 360 camera is not something they can do retroactively to already built Explorers? Perhaps they have to do it from scratch on the line? Maybe someone here can comment. Regardless, I'm glad your timeline worked out! That's two people on this forum receiving their Explorers this week... signs of hope?

Did you get these updates from the vehicle order tracker online, or from your dealer? Just curious. Keep us posted!

Or an Acura MDX Type S looks sweet or a VW Atlas SEL R-Line is quite nice.
The GV70 is my top alternative. Genesis is doing some cool stuff and the price point is surprising. The Acura MDX is VERY good looking, but the pricing is in explicably high to me. BMW X3 M40i is another contender. I kind of wish they would make a Traverse that truly competes with the ST. Or a Telluride! But alas, Ford are the only ones doing what they're doing for the money. My ST build with Z plan and incentives is coming in at $52,533. That's tough to beat... unless I never actually get it

Thanks for your support folks... this is the deadlocked explorer support group now!

With regards to all of the comments about 2024, which is just 4 months away, it is even funnier in a morbid kind of way with the new design just around the corner.. I wonder if they will make the unsold and unshipped 2023 inventory known as the "Classic" series. Kind of like Jeep did with the WK2 Grand Cherokee, Volvo with the 240, and Nissan with the Sentra. I may have missed a few but those come to mind first...

... or they could go on Amazon, order 21,000 of these badges and make it a special fringe minority edition for an extra $2500 https://www.amazon.ca/Personalized-Minority-Classic-Motorcycle-Notebook/dp/B09Y8QXTGM/ref=sr_1_30?crid=3OICYH9YDSYDM&keywords=edition+badge&qid=1693453590&sprefix=edition+badge,aps,87&sr=8-30&th=1

I looked at some of those also, but like you said, the Explorer is the only one AT THIS PRICE POINT. For the '23 w/ High Performance package & Active Park Assist I am at $65,200 OTD with Cook County taxes. Only ones I have found there or lower are the Telluride & Palisade. And, like I said before, they are charging a $5K market adjustment for the Telluride around me. Not gonna happen. For the Palisade I would want the Calligraphy Night Edition. Haven't seen one delivered yet though. Gonna see if they change the delivery date of the ST again next week. Supposed to be here around the 7th.

I was mainly following the online tracker and then chatted online with Ford Canada and after giving vehicle info Ford confirmed delivery to dealership on Sept 4. They also mentioned it may take dealership a few days to do final inspection.

I've learned that the tracking website is quite buggy but one thing that you can trust on it is "date of last update". Every time that date changes something has happened. My explorer updated on Aug 14 which put it to in production, then it updated on Aug 25 and put it in built. It updated again on Aug 28 but the tracker threw it back to order confirmed. This seems to be a common issue with the tracker site, so i chatted with Ford online on Sept 1 and they confirmed delivery of Sept 4.

Thanks for those details. I agree, the tracker is inaccurate, but the date of last update at least signifies that "something" has happened lol. Mine is stuck on 7/24 but I got an email from Ford on 7/27 assuring me I would hear from them "at least once every 45 days." So maybe by 9/11 I'll get an updated-date-of-last-update... if only to assure me that I'll get re-updated in another 45 days ;)

I hope they stay true to your timeline and it arrives at your dealership TOMORROW! If you get your Explorer as scheduled, it will definitely corroborate that the reason for the delay of pre-August builds is the 360 camera.

I've been shopping online inventory from nearby dealerships and looking at the window stickers of ST's that are in transit to their lots... they all have the 360 camera delete (credit $500) and reverse brake assist delete (credit $150) which is probably what your sticker looks like as well. I'm going to try to find one I can actually drive home. If I find one, I might abandon my build. I will have to spend more, but with the potential of my build not getting the permanent camera fix until 2024, I'm ready to trade money for time at this point. Already been waiting 5 months... I would kick myself if it ended up being another 5.

Drove an MDX, cheap and feels very flimsy - the Atlas is an overweight slow boat on wheels

I get the feeling that the cars sitting in ship hold pending new camera parts were partially configured for cameras - be it that 3 out of 4 cameras were already installed, cam code already setup, VIN already option assigned - for whatever one of these reasons, or others, it is more work to undo the 360 camera feature than it is to wait.
Chances are the cars that are in transit now have had the August cam delete option added to the line in the first week of production and were shipped as per standard schedule.

I would rather walk than even take a Telluride or Palisade for free. I would rather date a Tellarite at that, for those of you who know what that is…

I am going to laugh if this means that we get our orders in 2024.
To be fair, they have so much going on with MY2023 right now that there is no way to handle retooling etc for a 2024 facelift, and at this stage I give it at best 2-4 weeks before new camera parts start coming in, then the odds of it being applied to anyone’s car for a Sept shipment window are slim.. I am guesstimating that no one will see their stop shipped car arrive until November, at absolute best.

You are most likely to be driving away in your ST this year only if you swap your stop shipped one for something that is arriving in coming weeks/month with the 360 delete option.

Double Bingo!

I already see a black ST with a 9/11 blend date headed to my dealer. My order was grey but hey... i can go to the dark side. Maybe it can represent my inner transformation while enduring all of this. I'll let you all know if I attempt to go this route and if anything comes of it.

Also, fun fact, the ST 401A package cost has increased $950 ($4940 to $5890) since I ordered in March. Guess that's part of how Ford is raising the funds to pay for these recall repairs.

Lol. No idea what a Tellarite is, but the reasons that I want the ST are the power and the technology. The Pallisade doesn't have the power, but it has the technology. Considering how much I am on the road (easily 3K/mo) the driver assist technology is more important to me. So, in my mind the camera delete is not an option.

I haven't driven the MDX, but also just seen that it can touch $75K. The one Acura I have owned was superb quality. I test drove a 23' Atlas, but liked my ST much better. I thought maybe the 24' would be somewhat improved.

still no word on the plans for ones that are already sitting in dealership lots that can’t be sold because of the stop sale. Just based on this forum alone dealerships are telling customers whatever they can at this point. Every dealership is different answer. I understand it isn’t their fault per say. It’s just crazy people have been waiting this long for a part. I rather sign a waiver at this point and wait for the part to come in

It keeps getting better and better, yall lol. With all the recalls and bullshit Ford has put us through, I am considering pulling out and going else where.
Dealership is closed today due to a holiday, but tomorrow my Explorer was suppose to be arriving. We will see if that’s true. My guess they will provide another ETA date, and if that’s the case, I am walking away from Ford. My tracker still shows the following so I can’t imagine it being on its way right now to the dealership.
