Has anyone gone with a staggered wheel/tire setup?

Or is that frowned upon since our vehicles are awd?

As long as the tires are the same OD there wouldn’t be an issue.

I can’t speak for Ford transfer cases, but on my xdrive bmw 328 staggered wheel setups will end up wrecking the transfer case.

Rim size has to be the same, but no issue if the rears are wider?

A local rimshop has staggered setups on sale, that's what has me wondering.

Tire circumference has to be the same. If you run tires with different diameters, the front and rear will be trying to spin at different rates which as @Brett636 said, will damage the transfer case.
