I never thought I'd own an SUV, yet here I am. I recently lost my passion for cars, as there are no good cars on the market less than $90k.
Then I found the ST. Now the itch is back!
I recently picked up a Star White 2021 Ford Explorer ST
Previous rides:
- 1996 Honda Civic - Went thru 2 engines and several Chinese turbos. Eventually, I built the block and got a real turbo, but the car died before I could afford the tune (college student with diff life priorities)
- 2003 Dodge SRT4 - Torquey fun car. Thermal R&D exhaust. Would recommend.
- 2003 Suzuki GSX-R600 - Fun bike. kinda dangerous. Would recommend.
- 2011 Mitsubishi EVO MR - Dream car. Handles like none other. Dealer blew 1 engine. I blew another self-tuning (hit boost cut, but wanted a full datalog so I re-WOT, bad idea). Went through every exhaust until I finally ran a boost-activated testpipe-cutout with manual override so I could run stock exhaust at WOT or open downpipe/testpipe at WOT depending on mood. I will own this car again at some point in the future.
- 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0t - sporty coupe but lacked passion.
My goal for this car is to keep it... UNBROKEN
Here is my soon-to-be mod list:
Suspension:
Steeda Lowering Springs (I don't mind the rake or wheel gap compared to the H&R)
Steeda Front Sway Bar (some say it's not needed... um, wut? Have they ever turned in an ST? I made a u-turn doing 10mph and the car almost flipped over. j/k)
Steeda Rear Sway Bar
Steeda Strut Tower Bar (mostly for aesthetics)
Performance:
Borla S Type Cat Back Exhaust... (afraid this exhaust might be too loud)
Whipple/Steeda Intercooler... (stock IC is tiny and heat soaks)
aFe Momentum GT Cold Air Intake (meh, on the fence...)
Whoosh BOV adaptor (why not, easy to remove if the sound is obnoxious)
Steeda Explorer Rear Differential Brace (I got a 1 bolt)
As for me: I like to learn. Open to new ideas.
Still need to investigate tunning options for the ST
