Wondering if anyone has done it. The 3rd row is a bit useless to me. I would almost rather remove it and cover that back area with a large cargo mat. More room for dogs and gear. Curious how much it weighs.

The seat frame is also a chassis crossmember and integral part of the crash protection designed into the car.

That's true Unbroken but you can buy the cross brace the police cars have in them if you wanted the same strength. I honestly think the cross brace is stronger then ours with the backseat..I read the article about the one cop who was basically unhurt when he was in his explorer on the side of the highway and was plowed into by a car going 70mph or close. They had a seperate article about why he wasn't hurt and how the explorer was made to survive a 70mph hit.....Which I think is insane that he didnt suffer any major injuries

Also Southflst , if you search with the search engine you will find a few articles about removing the 3rd row.One of them goes into the X brace and I THINK may have a link to buy them if you wanted ! The 3rd row comes out in 2 seperate sections and the part for your back mounts to the floor directly. It has a 2 inch round bar that goes from side to side and the brackets that bolt to the floor are welded to that bar. It has a bunch of other stuff welded to it but you will know what I mean when you lift it up ! That bar and the brackets to bold that part in the truck are the strength of the 3rd row...

The PIU brace isn’t just a straight drop in for our cars though. Some modifications are needed around the 2nd row seats for all the carpet and trim panels to fit.

Unbroken- this doesn’t pertain to anything on this topic, but I wanted to reach out because I saw a post from you a while back about taking foam or cutting the foam down in the drivers seat to make it shorter since you were tall. I’m wondering how you did that, or if you have a video you could share so I can see what to do. I’m 6’8” myself and I’m running into my upper back hurting on long drives.
