Yes…for early models that just want to get rid of the smashed plastic pipe. You’ll need the BOV version if you want to run his hot side.
Ok. So I’d have to use the block off plate, resistor and use a BOV?

Yes. His cold side with BOV provision comes with all the parts needed to eliminate the oem bypass valve.

Not sure why I can’t wrap my head around this but after talking with aFe again I was told the cold side and CAI are the same thing. I spent about 20 minutes with my head under the hood trying to follow all the piping. The CAI goes to the turbos, the hot side runs from the turbos to the IC and the charge pipe runs from the IC to the intake manifold, correct?

I installed Fenfab's cold side and HKS BOV at the same time as my v2 intake, but I'm pretty sure only installing the intake will force you to essentially be VTA as the tube connecting the factory hotside pipe to the stock intake is removed when installing the Fenfab intake. I'm not positive, but you might be able to drive with that tube removed and be fine.

I believe it's part #13 that gets removed with the intake install. 1000003872.png

This is the hot side (#5 and #9) and the charge pipe (#15) right? So the aFe rep is correct saying the CAI "is" the cold side piping? I already have a CAI so I just want the hot side and charge pipe then.

Not sure exactly what the afe rep is getting at TBH. But if you're replacing hotside and have a 2020 then you'll need the charge pipe with BOV.

Only if I go with FenFab! aFe's hot side has a port for my OEM bypass valve. To be honest, I'm not sure why I would need a BOV since the newer ST's don't even run a bypass valve but I trust what @UNBROKEN says. There must be a reason for it, I'm just not clear on what it is.

This is pretty simple…don’t know why you’re making it hard.
The CAI is just that…nothing else. It feeds air to the chargers.
The hot side connects the outlets of the chargers to the inlet of the intercooler.
The cold side connects the outlet of the intercooler to the throttle body.
2020/early 21 cars had a bypass valve on the hot side that discharged into the air intake tube on the driver side. Later cars do this electronically and don’t have a bypass valve.
FenFab hot side V1 or V2 do not have a provision for a bypass valve. Instead he added a BOV port to the cold side piping because people want the noise and to have a little fun.

I'm not making it hard. It's diferent people calling the same thing different names. What I said above is the same as what you are saying, almost. The aFe rep said the CAI was the cold side piping. Some call the charge pipe the cold side piping where it's the same thing. What I didn't know was that the newer models replace the bypass valve by doing it electronically. I thought they just eliminated it. Now I understand that part and why I need a BOV with Brett's hot side and charge pipe. Thank you for explaining that part!

Oh I'm not disagreeing with you! You're 100% right! The CAI is not the same as the cold side piping. The charge pipe and cold side pipe are the same. He is definately wrong.

AH-HA, and the light bulb turns on. I literally just got off the phone with Brett and we got this figured out. When the rep at aFe called the CAI the cold side piping it was because he was talking about the piping before and after the turbos and not the IC. I think everyone else is talking about piping before and after the IC. So that's why I was so confused about the system. He also explained how Ford got rid of the bypass valve and controls it through programming and venting through the turbos. If I want to keep my OEM valve (which Brett doesn't reccommend due to faultiness) I have to use aFe. Therefore it looks like I will be going with his system and I'll just have to have a BOV and deal with the noise. He did say there is a BOV from summit that mimics the Tial that goes for about $75. I just don't want to skimp on cost because most of the time you get what you pay for. So now I have to decide on what to do about a BOV.

In terms of BOV VOLUME, I've seen it described as, from quietest to loudest, Tial > Raceport > HKS.

I can only vouch for HKS as that's what I have, aside from the VTA spacer prior, and you definitely won't like it if you want quiet.

I’m thinking about going with the TurboSmart. Seems to be a popular choice. There’s a kid in the neighborhood with a Subaru that’s really loud when he gets to the end of the road. It’s annoying but I know some people like it like that. It’s like exhaust, some want loud and some want quiet. I’ll just have to get used to it or skip doing it altogether.

You won’t even hear it unless you have the windows down.

Windows down it’s 2-3x louder. I don’t know if because I have upgraded turbos and running high boost it amplifies the sound more, but you can hear it.. I really wanna do what UNBROKEN did to his hood and make my own scoops… his sounds nasty cause the hood doesn’t trap the sound in it..

Yea mine I can hear now but before I cut the hood I’d have to roll the window down to make sure the Turbosmart valve was even working.
