Not necessarily can it be stolen, but is this vehicle a high risk of being stolen? I've read posts quite a ways back (back to 2021) and have not seen much mention of theft. As a previous own of a Dodge Charger, having my vehicle stolen, and knowing it was all but "a matter of time" for that particular type of vehicle, is there the same cause for concern with the Explorer ST?

Judging by the key demographics of owners on this forum, if thieves were smart they'd avoid ST drivers. I can see a vast majority of them are former or active military, former or current law enforcement officers, gun owners, badasses or mamabear/soccer moms. They'd be smart not to mess with us. I am none of the above but I look very intimidating as well. LMAO Most drivers of ST's would also attest to the fact that we are often mistaken for police vehicles regardless of the paint color! I know a few actual police departments have black ST's for some officers with hidden red and blue lights and sirens. The other indicator that it's not susceptible to theft are the very low insurance rates on my vehicle and mine is bright red. I traded in a 7 year old Lincoln and my insuance went down in 2019 for my new ST!

Stats wise a F150 is much more likely to be stolen.

There’s an owner on here I forget who but he had three SRT vehicle stolen and he switched to a Ford Explorer ST and they have not touched it. I think the Explorer ST is a very underrated SUV. A majority of them are all-wheel-drive so they’re not great takeover cars so theft of them is low for those reasons.

dodge srts etc being so easy to snatch up is puzzling with the key fobs etc

i will 2nd the st in BLACK, carbonized grey, white are easily mistaken for DO RIGHT boys
even so the only real way is to immobilize the car, then short of a tow truck its not moving
i have used hidden fuel pump switches, pulled fuses for long term parking in other cars
an attack dog sitting in drivers seat is some deterrent

agree the plus on insurance, ours went down compared to the edge it replaced and much lower than the 22 f150

Was wondering the same... Based on the current information in the forums, it seems very difficult to steal an Explorer ST. Besides the club, are there any other tricks we can use to slow down thieves?

I was in the same boat as you. My 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona 392 got stolen last year (8-13-2023) in front of my parents house on the East side of Plano, TX. After insurance cut me a check for my loss, I had to replace it with something that still would have some performance, but be under the radar for potential thieves to strike again!!I finally bought a used 2023 Ford Explorer ST and have been happy with some of the "Spirited" driving and handling. It's all stock, with only a few appearance mods, but it's nice!!
