Unfortunately the people selling the services or writing you up are not always well versed on what they're offering. You asking for something beyond what the book is telling them throws them off. The idea of preventative maintenance seems to be something foreign to the dealerships cause the book says everything has lifetime fluid.

Dealer fought me for the longest time to change PTU fluid on last Ford and when they got it in the air they said, oh there's a drain plug, sure we can change it. They're telling me that not all the drivetrain fluid is serviceable on this either. Lifetime...yet they don't warranty it for lifetime. Odd how those things don't line up.

oh wow, that's disappointing. I like how you described "lifetime fluid" at least it's good to know folks can still read a script.

I’ve had a really annoying whistle coming from my passenger side mirror (MY 2020 but just bought it last week) and basically isolated it to the gap between the mirror cap and the black base that the mirror rotates on after doing some trial and error with masking tape.

Got some 1/16” weatherstripping and squeezed it in that gap, hopefully it helps… Anyone else had this issue or know of a fix?

After driving to work this morning I was able to confirm that this little bit of weatherstripping completely eliminated the whistle from the passenger side mirror - super happy about that.

Checking tire pressure today noticed I could not remove the air cap from 2 of 4 wheels horrific fusion. After multiple attempts with different tools i resorted to my last option (The Dremel) and sawed them off. I did a great cut on one but the other I butchered. Had to call a mobile tire guy to replace the stem valve.

Note to self and others: Do not use metal caps unless you'll remember to lub them and check them regularly. I don't use them but my last dealer visit for service they placed green metal caps on for Nitro distinction.

Finally installed my intercooler, aFe intake, and FenFab charge pipe. They've been sitting in my garage for at least a year.

Half way through I was so tired I wasn't thinking straight so it took me way too long. I kept messing up and would have to back up a few steps to fix something I missed.

Probably also related to fatigue, the car is in limp mode so I know what I'm doing tomorrow. :(

Once everything is working normally I'll order a new DMS tune from ZFG!

Ordered a new AccessPort with the GooseTune. I don't do track, I don't race, all i want is to smoke "rice burners" when the light turns green at my local intersections.

On today's episode of What have you done to your Explorer ST, I got the front windows tinted to mach the rear. I received 1 of my 2 boxes for my exhaust so that has to wait till next weekend.

Before

After

Exhaust is next, and then the Black Rims. I will be getting the 21 inch ST style. I am no fan of the 20 inch polished look. Also I will be painting those calipers Red soon as well!

Installed this phone holder in the slot by the cup holders. Fits well and lets my phone connect to CarPlay without wild cables everywhere. Only time will tell how well the port holds up because it's not super sturdy but seems like it will do the job. Might add some foam around the edges to hold it all in place a little bit better if needed. It comes with the correct size USB cable and cable ties to stick on the inside of the cubby to hold it all in place.

Yes it does, it just makes me a little nervous about the port over time because it’s pretty much just the usb connection that holds it upright.

Some maintenance, tires rotated and balanced at Discount Tire. Installed a dashcam the other day that I bought during prime days $39. Front facing only but happy with it. It uses an app to control camera.

Not exactly today, but last Thurs. and Friday, I drove to and from Denver (from Phoenix) to deliver and retrieve four pairs of home-audio-system poweramps.. 'Twas almost 1800 miles in 29 hours, averaging slightly over 60MPH.. Got caught in a half-dozen rainstorms*, etc.. My '23 ST performed excellently, and I'm VERY happy with the performance of my Continental 315/35ZR22 ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus all-season tires...

...no aquaplaning or skating in rain too heavy to see thru.. At 80YO, I'm proud to have been able to do it.. I LOVE MY ST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* which I define as rain so heavy I have to slow the car and turn the emergency flashers on

I bought my 2020 used with low miles. Original owner never took care of any of the TSBs or recalls. Bought it summer of 2023. I have been dealing with this whistling sound ever since lol... Thanks for posting, I will have to try this!

If that doesn’t work I’ve heard that it was the gasket/weatherstripping on the door itself causing the whistling. You can put tape in various places to help pinpoint the whistle.

New Thermal R&D 2.5 inch exhaust with black tips installed. I'm sure it's just an illusion but seems like it woke the car up. Sounds good no drone, mellow rumble at idle in traffic. Slow transition of my ST but so far I am enjoying actually modding this vehicle.

Installed the CVF Cold Pipe. Also removed the strut brace. All it did was get in the way of anything I tried to work on.
It's just for looks and nobody looks under the hood but me. ;)
