Engine bay temps

New to the forum as I am looking at buying a ST. We test drove one the other day and no warning lights or overheating but when I got out of the car after driving it the front fenders felt hot to the touch. I went to open the hood and the support post was also hot to the touch. I know engine compartments can get hot but this seemed hotter than I would have thought.

Is this common for these vehicles? If not, what could be causing this if the thermostat didn't move past the middle?

Yep…they’re hotter than hell under the hood. It happens when you have an engine bay that’s well sealed and a couple of hot ass turbos feeding it heat.

So then that heat should be considered normal, even when not driving aggressively?

Mine stays very warm....long time
Once you stop, there is no more air
These things could use a hood vent

The gauge isn’t going to lie to you. These cars do get pretty hot but it stays within the safe areas. Intake air temps are horrible stock wise because of the small intercooler, but that’s another thing.
