Hey y'all, so my rear driver side night time driving light failed at approximately 1300ish miles on October 5th. The indicators work and brake lights work just not the night time driving light. I got no message on the cluster that a tail light fault was detected and I've attempted to reset the BCM by disconnecting the battery and have it sit overnight. The only thing I hadn't done was touch the +/- ends together to discharge. Big Blue opened a warranty case and the part ( RB5Z13405B ) is on backorder until November. So my question to you all is, What other techniques would y'all suggest to remedy this? Also what are the differences between these two parts ( RB5Z13405A ) and ( RB5Z13405B ). Both listed on Fords parts page say they are the driver side taillight assembly but the A variant is a few buck more than the B variant. The B variant is what the dealership has on order but they say its on backorder, online does not say that but the A variant is showing on backorder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just like any one would, I'm getting quite impatient since I have not been doing any night time driving and would like to get my build project rolling.

UPDATE: 11/25/2024 Attempted to have the dealer install a used 2025 Explorer tail lamp assembly and was told they would not do it because it would void the bumper to bumper warranty. So I inquired on the status of my COPIS Case for the back ordered lamp and the service manager said they had made a mistake and closed the case after it expired a few days ago. I asked if I should call Ford to expedite the light and put in a formal complaint because I haven't been able to drive the vehicle since I deadlined it for safety, but the lady said she would call first to make it right and would update me later in the afternoon. 6 hours later I get a call from the SM and she said Ford is going to "drop ship" the assembly overnight to the dealership and she will let me know when it arrives. I was also told the assemblies are in production and at the time of the conversation, 23 assemblies have been mailed out to customers nationwide and there is a high demand for the part and customers are complaining about the same issue I am experiencing. The back order is expected to last for the foreseeable future. So for those who have bought a 25 Explorer just keep an eye on your driver side night time driving light.

UPDATE: PT.2 11/26/2024: Tail lamp arrived at 11:30ish am at the dealership and received the call. Appointment made for Friday to have the assembly installed.

Ford quality is #2- I mean #3.. or is it #4.. Lets just say its far away from being #1.

Glad you are getting your issue resolved. I'll be keeping an eye on my 25' lights now.

What a PITA, my favorite part "the service manager said they had made a mistake and closed the case after it expired a few days ago. " With that kind of help, people buy different vehicles.

Yea what a pain. I've been checking in with the dealership every week on a Friday to make sure they keep it open. To my understanding, a COPIS Case remains open for 45 days and after that it automatically closes. So I tried to keep on top of them but the one week I decided not to call because the wife said to let it go and just wait, the case closes lol. Also I bought the used part after I consulted with the parts guy and he said it wouldn't be an issue to install the used light. Guess it'll be an issue but I'll get a refund on it or I may post it on here. We'll see. Ford quality at its best, fingers crossed that's my only issue.

That is a PITA! I’m dealing with Ford with water inside my taillights on my 2024 F-150 Lariat. It’s an act of congress for them to do anything!

Just letting you know that you could have gotten a free loaner vehicle while awaiting for your ST to be repaired. It is part of your bumper to bumper warranty, trust me, I know from experience.

I forgot about that and didn't realize it until a week after I deadlined it. Yea I could've done that on their expense but I have a beater that I take to work. Its a 2 hour round trip so when I did have the Ex I would drive it on my Fridays to work. I appreciate you and my wife on reminding me on my laps of memory lol

So now that's done, I cleaned him up and added some tint to the lights. Attached are before and after replacing the assembly and tinted lights.
