I sent the attachments to ford...hopefully it winds up on engineerings desk
I would encourage those feeling slighted by our horrible IPC setup compared to othe models, feel compelled to raise the issue as well
It's touted as a sport vehicle
It should have at least in a few drive modes, more dr8ver information
I did one response from a ford person

Maybe he or she is guiding my note forward

Definitely couldn't hurt, but I am almost 100% sure that Ford will never do anything about that. The dumb engineers don't care about that and are more focused on the next model.

my only spark of hope is the engineer that was on the st videos was pretty amped up and drivetrain, etc
if it get to his desk or office code??? maybe
my dealer has also created a SHIIT ticket to ford for some guidance..all we can do is keep pestering them with honey and salt

UPDATE UPDATE
Ford rep called me this morning, asked i get dealer to open a file as well on lack of user selections for instrument panel
the below is what i asked my dealer to write up as an issue.

feel free to plagiarize , but please if yall want to push the issue to get ford to update the software to allow user select able gauge display for boost and the others in get your dealer to open a case, and contact ford customer care

"
I have an official case number now and spoke to another person at FORD this morning.

They asked I open a ticket on your end about my complaint on the lack of USER ability to select or display pertinent engine and drive train information to my Instrument panel, either through user selectable menus or a software update.

My goal is it get many people to write FORD with the similar complaint, the vehicle is marketed as a SPORT version of the explorer, it should reflect that in the cabin on user information displays.

Which is, in sport mode there is only an engine temperature gauge (swing, arc with no real digital numbers), were there should be added a BOOST (turbo pressure to intake manifold) and a transmission temperature gauge with digits, at a minimum.

Second, in TOW HAUL there is both a swing/arc gauge for transmission temps and engine, but NO BOOST gauge option is available. Towing produces higher stress on entire drivetrain, boost is a direct indicator of engine load.

Third, in TRAIL mode there is no transmission temp gauge or boost gauge option, being off road, slow or climbing et, produces excess transmission temps, operators should have more than a warning light .

Fourth a bonus would be to have a boost gauge option in ECO mode to also be a direct indication of engine load to help better managed fuel economy… that’s a big one , everyone wants to get better MPG,

I included screen shots of each current drive mode.

Its worth noting the data is THERE in the vehicles data stream, we just need a software update to enable it to be displayed in the Instrument Panel Cluster

Not to pour salt in the wound, but on the 18-23 mustangs when you get the upgraded 12" digital display (301A package on the GT) they have different displays just like the ST does, but on the mustang you can select which display you want on start up, you don't have to change the drive mode to get the display you want. And, the ecoboost models with the 12" get a boost gauge on screen and with a little tweak in forscan you can have that boost gauge on the GT. Also if you happen to have the performance pack there is a physical gauge above the center stack between the A/C vents. On the GT it is a vacuum gauge and on the ecoboost it is a combo vac/boost gauge and the GT guys just swap out the vac for the vac/boost and its plug n play, no changes in forscan needed. And finally, there is a my mode that you can select where you can create a custom drive mode, you can select which type of steering response you like, the drive mode you like and if you have magneride the suspension settings are tied to the drive mode and so is the shifting if you have the auto trans, and if you have the active exhaust you can select the exhaust mode you like. You can pick and choose what you like and set it up as your own custom drive mode and at start up you can just select your own drive mode or one of the several preprogrammed modes from ford which are normal, sport, sport+, track, drag, snow/wet, and my mode if enabled. This is standard on every 18-23 mustang with the 12" display.

On the 24+ mustangs, they have several different drive mode displays with one of them being a fox body style display and earlier this year ford released and update and added a classic style 65-70 display and an SN-95 style display.

Ford can do this on the explorer if they choose to, they chose not too. If you talk to them again I would mention that.

i told them almost 80% of what your wrote
i know a place that swaps in the mustang IPC , but the issue arises getting it to not say mustang
i went over the IPC for mustangs and how it could be "adopted" of sorts,
my dealer is on it now as well,
he is writing in the cure cant be put in, until ford updates the software ( i am paraphrasing)
we all need to send ford some honey and get it done
it may be a climb since 25s are out and about already
but that should not deter us

If anything they would fix the 25's and leave us 20-24 owners to twist in the wind.

No, it's a major downgrade from what we have. They only get one screen like the old 15-19 sports were.

Even more of reason to get ford to update ipc to reflect a more detailed layout
They miss the boat on individual model layouts to mske them splash.
Explorer has a long run of mid sized suv
Lots of ways to accentuate this and put in a nice gauge layout. That does not threaten other models like mustang or f series
Programming is not a huge price compared to hardware
The mustang, aviator, Explorer use same lcd screen
We need more people to start pushing the questions to customer care
So our user experience is great
I did remind the guy today
A jaguar suv has more an excellent ipc layout as does the bmw..

I would say at least 90 plus percent of drivers never look at their gauges. That’s why they made dummy lights. Having said that, the percentage goes way way up in performance models. You’d think they would be smart to accommodate that portion of the market. We bought it because of its performance. You’d think they would give us some better options. It’s not expensive as far as mods go, it’s just a quick software write. Knowing Ford, they will agree to do it then totally screw it up

That was part of my opening argument this morning with them
It's marketed as a sport suv
So give us sport instruments
Easy as falling off a log
All the info is there, they just need to change software to say yes.
That's over simplified.. but you know

The guy I spoke to today understood 100%
He knew a good bit about the st, 3.0
Etc
We shall see
Ford needs to know there is a strong customer base wanting this

I bet the devs were allotted a few hours at most for this UI with management saying "just get it done, we have EV stuff to focus on"......
