We have a stock 2020 ST Explorer that we are considering turning over to our new driver 16 year old grandson. Is it possible to detune or restrict the performance of the car to protect the family?

Read the owner’s manual - that’s what MyKey is for.

You can set some limits with the MyKey or you can have an actual low power aftermarket tune written. Many places have them already…commonly called valet tunes.

That’s subjective. My first car was a Corvette, followed by a string of Fox body Mustangs. A stock ST is no faster than a basic Fox car years ago and is infinitely safer.

I don’t think so. I love these cars, but they’re not dangerously fast stock.
Agree. Also depends on how you brought your kids us. If they just got finished 2 years of GTA with no driving skills, heck no. If they have a healthy understanding of the physics in driving a car, no problem.

Ok ok I dunno, still kinda think it’s wild for a 16 year old but to each their own.

Also, I would’ve been in damn heaven with this as my first ride. I had a jeep and did some awesome off-roading non stop, sometimes where I shouldn’t have

I’d be happy to help you detune from oem.

The device I use also has anti-theft for areas where it may be sketchy. Just flash that map and the car won’t crank

And then if you happen to want more power, we can turn it up for you.

Tons of options with the COBB Accessport. If you want help just let me know!

I had a 01 Cobra and soon changed it to an 03 Cobra before I hit 20 lol.

Its a lot safer vehicle now vs what we used to drive before. Programmed my key should make things much better
