X-Pipe vs. H-Pipe

Wasn’t going to do it but oh well here it is. X-pipe vs. H-pipe and why you choose what you choose?

X makes it higher pitched…H makes it deeper….as a general rule. Since it won’t make any scavenging difference on a turbo car that’s really all you’re choosing.

H pipe is usually deeper while the x is more raspy and higher pitched. What exhaust are you putting the x pipe or h pipe on?

Its just going to be paired with Rouch Mufflers that's all….

I assume that’s custom. What Roush mufflers?

I would usually always say h pipe, but it comes to personal preference. IMO a 6-cylinder doesn’t need to be raspy or higher pitched. You need to give us more info too. How is it from the downpipes back? Custom exhaust? What Roush mufflers? Downpipes?

Stock piping, stock resonator until we reach the mufflers that's were its the Roush Axle Back. Where are you thinking of putting the x or h pipe? If you replace the resonator with an x or h pipe, it will most likely drone and sound not to good.

Ok than what setup do you suggest? At this point I already have the Roush axle back on so that’s not gonna change. And I’m not really worried about drone. What I’m worried about is it sounding good. Preferably a deep tone not raspy or high pitched. So what do you suggest from here? X-pipe? Stock resonator? Or what are you running on your ST?

I’m not really worried about drone. What I’m worried about is it sounding good. Preferably a deep tone not raspy or high pitched. So what do you suggest from here? X-pipe? Stock resonator? What is your setup on your ST?

For what you want, and can actually live with, just cut your losses…stop trying to piece together stuff that’s very likely to sound like crap and will 100% drone horrible on the highway and just get the 3” Thermal kit and be happy.

Relax dude, isn’t this whole Explorer ST forums are for asking questions? Don’t need a smart ass response if there isn’t going to be help. It’s a simple question that I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering on so therefore if you can help awesome, if not go waste your time somewhere else. At the end of the day we’re all Ford Explorer ST owners therefore we’re here to help each other right? I understand if I was a Chevy owner asking Chevy questions on here, by all means be a asshole about it but I’m not. Just a simple question my dude get a grip.‍♂️

What do you suggest running (affordable setup)? For those who can’t afford a full on exhaust. Obviously buying a full on exhaust like the 3” Thermal Kit would be ideal for the best sounding and no drone but that’s not the help I’m looking for. I’m currently looking for an alternative setup meanwhile.

LOL! That's just the way he is, short, blunt and to the point. Don't take it personal. He actually knows what he is talking about and probably knows more than a bunch of others on here. . .Combined! Anyway, from the way it sounds in your video I would say leave it alone.
