I am fully aware I might get roasted for this, but I'm willing to take that chance...

Since this is a V6 and all, and I've even heard others say it almost has a GTR-ish sound with aftermarket exhaust, I was curious what everyone thinks of doing an x-pipe setup to 2 canister style mufflers? I was thinking something crazy like Greddy SP mufflers or something... obviously the picture is a Subaru with single piping to the mufflers, but I was just thinking some kind of straight through mufflers with a single large tip, preferably black, might look sweet and sound good...

Flame suit is now on...

Anyone that flames you for this is insecure in their own tastes and opinions and/or they are trying to justify their own purchase, or is just brand loyal for some dumb reason (unless you're getting paid for it). It's your car man, and frankly I'm excited to see all types of options. I hope you do this and post sound clips.

Mine will be 3” SPD downpipes with the reducer cut off into all 3” piping with an X-pipe Magnaflow muffler and a pair of resonators out back with the tips welded directly to them. The only different in what you’re describing is the tip style. The rectangular opening in the bumper is 9” wide so I think a single round tip may look out of place.

i say go for it. be different!

if you want a more GT-R sound, skip the canister style muffler and just use a couple helmholz chambers. this setup plus a simple x-pipe further up the stream would be amazing and get you that more higher pitched braaaap sound.

Helmholtz chambers / j-pipe resonators don’t change the sound much. They target a specific drone frequency to kill it. I’ve used them many times and they work very well.

I have thought about trying a custom setup on mine. I have a couple vibrant resonators from my last 5.0/10 spd RCSB F-150 I thought about using to get more of the "growl" sound VS typical V6 or truck ecoboost sound.

Yeah, I don't really know exactly what I want to do, to your point, finding a single tipped muffler that doesn't look too small in the large opening, will be difficult... I'll probably just go with an x-pipe resonator to straight pipes, out the back, with dual tips.

I’ve been waiting since Aug to have a custom cat-back exhaust built by these guys: https://bfr-exhaust.com/, and it‘s finally almost here. Next week, Nov 4th!

They specialise in turbo setups and are excited to get to work on an American model.

drone on that setup *might* be a serious PITA... you will most likely need at least something to kill drone. or just turn up the radio. ;-)

I just came out of a 2018 GT PP2 with full exhaust, I doubt this thing could throw anything at me anywhere near that.
