Bang and Olufsen opinion?

With manufactures license these names from high end audio companies they build all of the components and whoever has their name on it comes in and “optimizes“ everything for each particular vehicle. They don’t just pull things off a shelf and throw them in. That said, comparing vehicle sizes is irrelevant to this discussion because each vehicle will have an optimized tune.

It sounds bad. I feel like most cars I've been in have sounded better. Something with the highs that are to hot and harsh. None of the radio host voices sound realistic. Very dissapointed with that aspect of the vehicle.

The B&O system is OK.. I had an aviator (long stroy on how it feel apart at 900 miles) that had the 28 speaker Revel system, now that, that is an experience, like damn...the surround in a car system like in the ST is a faked surround. You can't take a 2 track mix (left/right mix) and suddenly have 5.1 or what ever they are trying to fake. What's being done is the following. They are using an algorithm that works similar to a plug in that I use sometimes when mixing, that centers the low end, mid lows mods and pushes the upper mids and highs out to the sides more giving the effect of a wider surround sound. It's almost like mid side mixing, but not as slick..

I WANT to use the surround feature, but sometimes the Stereo setting just sounds better to me.

I’m prepping to yank it all out...I’ll be running a total of 7 speakers that will sound infinitely better than this junk. It’ll cost about $20k but oh well. lol

I added in a LinkQ, small alpine amp and a (2) 12" subwoofer box with the subs facing downward. Also added in a bass knob installed on the steering wheel.

I push the treble at +9, midrange at +5 and bass at -0. I also push the balance slightly to the front, about mid drivers seat.

By having the bass at zero, makes the tweeters and door speakers play higher because they are not drowned out by bass from the same speaker.

Now, I have full bass control with the bass knob. Shit hits HARD and sounds tremendous over the factory setup.

I also have the box sitting loose on the folded down 3rd row. with 5 additional feet of speaker wire, just incase I need the 3rd row. I can just slide the box back behind folded up 3rd row.

Its a nice clean setup and only cost me $550 for install since I already had the box, subs and amp.

30 years of Reciprocating and Turboshaft aircraft engines and the Propellers and Rotor Head noise that went with them; the B&O sound system in the ST sounds great to me! Anything else would be wasted on me...

My wife has a 2019 Highlander platinum with factory 12 speaker JBL sound system and the Explorer with tech package sounds much, much better imo.

it meets expectations for me. I am not an audiophile, and it is way better than the 'JBL' I had in my Highlander. I also observe that different audio sources seem to sound clearer than others.

I had a Lexus at one time, and the bass in that car was much cleaner and pronounced. Also just came from a Mercedes ML, which flat out had the best stock system I’ve ever had in a car, although it too had some small limitations, specifically in the highs. The bass in the ST is seriously lacking, although the highs are nice and clear and the sound doesn’t distort at any volume, which is rare. I joined this forum mostly to see what bass upgrades people are doing that won’t break the bank - and of course to see what some of these guys are doing with their trucks.

The highs are just way to hot and can't be tamed. The regular stereo in my 2010 venza sounds better imo.

After over 30 years of drag racing, and my ears close to open headers while working on the engine--the stereo sounds great--ears just don't hear as well as they used to.
