Hi all, close to pulling the trigger on a 20 ST given the great Dec incentives. Research indicates quite a few trans issues, have read it's a TSB patch and/or trans coolant temp,nothing definitve i can find other than numerous pissed off owners with them. The 21's apparentely do not have these issues. The one i'm looking at has a build date of 7/20, which seems to be a very late build for a 20 , probably was scheduled months earlier but got caught in the plant closure. My question is would a build date of July this year be clear of the trans issues? TIA

I have read everything from valve body to re flash to trans cooler leak etc, quite a few horror stories on consumer websites. First year bugs a plenty. I am looking at a 20 built in sept this year so hoping that's well past the fix, wish there was some documented hard date to go by so i can make a decision and sleep at night.
Platinum was new. ST was used. Test drove the ST then went to another dealer to check out a few other Explorers. I didnt have a clue about the what the ST was until we test drove it. The other dealer had the Platinum in a blue color my girl friend fell in love with. A few days later I couldn't stop thinking about the ST and picked it up as well.
