More goodies: FenFabrication Cold air intake and IC Piping

The beast is currently with Brett at FenFabrication for a cold air intake and upgraded intercooler piping. Also swapping the Boomba VTA for the TurboSmart BOV - I doubt it will make much difference but with all these mods I said why not try it and possibly help spool a bit with dual port design.

I would imagine some of you will be interested in the intake. Plenty more details to come but looks like filter will sit in wheel well area. It’s tough to get cold fresh air with the design but at a minimum it won’t be engine bay temp air.

Do they have the ability to Flo Test the CAI?

I am guessing no based on seeing the shop and the majority of the type of work he does but I just asked.

I ask simply because often bigger is better. That said, when it comes to air flow that is not always the case. It would be tough for me to lay down money on a product that I wasn’t sure was a step up from what I had.

Exactly, definitely right. Brett went over that with me and he’s very well versed/experienced on finding the right balance.

I’m booking an hour on a dyno soon so I can see total power but obviously that doesn’t help isolate every mod. I don’t have the time or want to spend the money after every mod :)

Have him make an extra set or 12 while you're there, so I can buy one!

Cobb makes a dual inlet filter for the F150 Eco Boost I was thinking might work well on a custom intake

I told him there would very likely be others interested :). Are you talking about the redline carbon fiber intake for the raptor? looks sick

Yep, was hoping someone would come out with something like that for the Sploder.. filter looks like an option for a custom intake, and they sell it separately

Fitment begins...some temporary pieces for experimenting. Likely 2.5” intercooler piping and 3.5-4” intake. Comparison shot is upper intercooler pipe matched to throttle body size of 3” - this is where both turbos are flowing together.

I told him I would expect there to be interest here so I believe he is. Not sure how many people would be interested in just intake vs intake and ic piping. A lot of people seem to do tune and whipple ic together so maybe both.

Can you do a survey on here? Feel free to send me a message or reply here if you’d be interested in a) ic piping b) intake or c) both so i can pass along to him?

I'm super interested, my biggest concern is heat soak. There's a reason most intakes aren't solid metal, like back in the day, and are now some sort of composite, because they're better at dealing with heat. I'd like to see IAT on a similar day, with and without CAI...that being said, looks awesome so far.
