I ordered the hood strut kit from Redline Tuning via Whooshmotorsports and the kit didn't come with the required rivets. Anyone else that has installed this kit find these missing?

I emailed Ron at Whoosh about it and I'm waiting to hear back.

edit: updated "whoosh" to have the h :)

replied in less than an hour (also whoosh has an h in it) lol

Redline is sending some out to you. The kits are pre-packaged goods and sold as we receive them - thank you

Thanks Ron, you did respond quickly and I should have said I had just emailed you. Didn't mean for it to sound like I was waiting a long time on your reply.

Let us know how you like em once they're installed. They're one of a couple remaining items on my list.

I still find it odd that the Edge ST I had before used hood struts, yet this didn't have them. I also still hate the explorer doesn't have projector headlamps!

I've been going back and forth with this for about 2 weeks now. I really want them but I am horrible using a rivet tool. It isn't the 100 bucks it's not the measuring it's the damn rivet tool.

Solved that problem. The manual rivet gun that I purchased, same one as Fat Boys install video recommended, could not install the rivet even with extra leverage. I then said screw the manual gun and purchased the following power rivet gun.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...rdless-Rivet-Tool-Tool-Only-2550-20/304400907

This gun is a beast, I already had an M12 power rachet and a battery pack that would fit the rivet tool and it turned out to be as simple as pulling the trigger four times. In fact, I could have went on installing rivets on an assembly line all day if I had one. After four rivets I became unimpressed with the gun and returned it.

I picked up a rivet tool and did a few test ones on some spare metal I had here. The rivets that came with the gun were easy and figured it wouldn't be a big deal. The ones that came with the struts took a lot more force to get the "pop".

Which ones did everyone opt for, the plus for $99 or the elite for $140? Anyone choose the carbon sleeves? Can’t imagine it’s real CF given the $20 up charge but wondered if anyone could comment.

I went for the normal $99 ones, since they aren't something I'll see all the time I did not opt for the sleeves.

Thanks. I can’t really see much of a difference in the description.

Do you think they would get suspicious if I did this in the parking lot and then returned it in 30 minutes? hahahah

People that pull that crap make me sick. Corporations don't eat that cost, every other consumer does. Either grow a pair and use a manual gun that's 10 bucks, or keep the other tool.

It was a response to another members suggestion. It was a joke...did you not see the "hahaha".. keep your panties on and chill. You just can't save the world. So in closing..please enjoy your bottled water, skinny jeans, Xbox. Stay in school, don't do drugs and make your mom proud.

Rivet Gun with 100-Piece Rivets, Single Hand Manual Rivet Gun Kit With 4 Tool-free Interchangeable Color-Coded Heads, 4 in 1 Hand Riveter Set - AHR01

This is the rivet gun that I picked up. Not the cheapest out there, but far from expensive as well. It takes some effort but it worked fine for installing the struts.
I have never had luck with a rivet gun. That is the only thing from stopping me from buying the struts and I have a beautiful rivet gun paid like 50 bucks for it a few years back. I've never successfully popped in a rivet. It's always sloppy and loose like a hooker at a sales convention..

Update: March 4, 2021
Finally success with installing rivets. The electric attachment to my drill worked well (Amazon.com: Cordless Drill Electric Rivet Gun Adapter-Professional Riveting Insert Nut Hand Tool Kit with Aluminum Casting Housing and a Non-slip Handle-4pcs Convertible Head and a Wrench: Home Improvement) and I was able to install the RedLine Tuning Hood Strut Package with confidence. Took me about 45 minutes.
