Thinking of buying a previous Buyback

The issues may not show their evil selves in only a day of ownership... It may take weeks to know and see all of the quirks that forced the manufacturer to lemon law this vehicle... Still not worth it in my opinion. Even if you take the extended warranty the hassle of being without the vehicle takes any Joy one would have by purchasing a new vehicle to begin with.

I understand what you are saying and that what I'm thinking long and hard about. I just went through getting a new engine under warranty in my VW last summer. Took 3 months for the new engine to arrive during the Covid overreaction. Three months in a loaner vehicle.
The world is in the crapper for sure.. I work with young people in my community who are recovering addicts or just troubled young people. I have a special person, a former heroin addict and pornstar who just celebrated 5.5 years of sobriety and is my closest friend. In a troubled world I worry about her constantly being stuck home without human intervention. She lives in California, I am in South Florida, she is 25 years old I am 51. The bond we've created through this sobriety journey for her is unbreakable but I worry about her constantly. If the world wasn't in the crapper I wouldn't worry as much because she would have more diversion and interaction with others. I am not very religious but I hope the world gets back on track soon and we get all lives back. I am so sure others are struggling as well as Lexi (the girl I sponsor and mentor). I am not sure how the world got in this predicament.

The CPO 2020 price is listed as $42,000. I think I can get that down another $1500. The closest equivalently equipped 2021 I can find is priced at about $55,000. Not sure if I can get that down. Maybe get it down close to $52,000? Not good with math in public. I guess the difference is more like $11,500 if I'm as good as I want to be in negotiating. Of course, this won't work if the dealer is monitoring my posts here. HA!!

I'll update as I go. I plan to go see the 2020 ST on Saturday. It's about a 1.5 hour drive and if I feel comfortable, I'll buy it then. They also have new 2021 on the lot to compare it to. On the other CPO 2020s I've seen, they are in the $46,000ish range with more miles.

There was an issue with motor mounts at one time. That could be the cause of the engine shake at idle. Would be interesting to see if these were replaced. If they let you take it for a day, I'd drive it hard and leave the stereo off and listen and feel for every vibration and rattle. Take it over some rough roads and give it a real thorough test drive for 24 hours. Use every feature and make sure they all work. That is a big discount! I was offered about half that amount for a 2020 loaded that had 5000 miles on the odometer. My concern was if problems had been corrected, would any show up later? Being OCD about my vehicles, I was afraid that if anything went wrong I would begin to question my choice. But I think that if you wring it out for 24 hours and look into the history, your gut will tell you what to do. Best of luck, let us know how it goes!

I drove the ST yesterday and spent a lot of time checking it out. I'm still deciding but am leaning towards buying it. I did notice the the build date on the driver's side B-pillar was different than what was on the window sticker. 7/19 on the vehicle vs 8/9/19 on the sticker. I verified the VINs.
Before you drive off with it: make sure you have the fuel funnel. Code card for driver's side door key code access. And I cannot stress the importance of the 20U29 service bulletin re: module updates which is intended for your case specifically--updating older builds to new calibrations for sale purposes. Module updates may not be approved after the purchase but YMMV.

Well, the fuel funnel explains the issue I had...I had some gas I stored when the Covid thing dropped. I put stabilizer in it and finally decided to start using it. My regular funnel spilled gas down the side unless I poured it very slowly...I was sweating after one 6 gallon can...I have to look for the funnel next time! Not to hijack the thread but thanks for the info!!
