Noobie Explorer Owner question! Sorry

Hi I just got my Explorer ST, used with 20k miles on it. Does this sound normal? The start up seems mildly lumpy (diesel-ish) them calms down very quickly. My neighbor pointed it out as he could here it rumble across our courtyard.

That's what mine sounds like but since you're in a garage it is even more amplified. It is noisy and rattles when cold at higher rpm then goes down. My dealer ordered a new flex pipe under warranty to try to fix this on the driver's side. I'll let the forum know when it's installed in a few weeks.

Thanks let me know if it gets any better. Totally new to Explorers and Ecoboost. Completely loving it however.

Here's an update for you. I took the car to the dealer and showed them a video of what was happening. They are now cracking the engine open to see what's wrong with it and either fixing the issues or replacing the entire engine under warranty. At least they gave me a top shelf F150 to drive around in the mean time. No idea on the time frame for repair currently.

More Updates! They diagnosed the car with a faulty cam phaser. Installing a new part this week, should hopefully fix the problem.
