Does anyone have any thoughts on which might be preferable? Pro and cons of each?
Looks like most the ST I've seen for sale have captain seats. Just wondering if 2nd row "bench" might be more useful?

Thanks,

Only more useful if you have the need/desire to seat an extra person. The reason you see Captain's Chairs is simply that it's a $500 option for the bench set up. They come standard with the Captain's Chairs. I ordered the bench seat. My wife said we'll be having grandkids. Mom gets what she wants.

Hi,
I have the captain's chairs also, as I did not want to pay $500 for the bench seat. Aside from the additional (all beat small) seat, having the bench in the second row would better confine loose items that you place in the back of the ST. The captain's chairs leave about an eight inch space for items to roll/slide through to the second row area when you fold down the third row seats for more cargo space. I imagine it to be a little harder to get into the third row to sit with the bench seat too.
Cheers,
Ron

I also have the 2nd row bench seat. We have nine grandkids. I like the bench rather than capt chairs.

We have the 2nd row Captains Chairs. Would have bought one with the bench for the grand kids if there had been one available. Turns out, even when we're not full the grand kids prefer to ride in the third row.

I started looking for one with the bench but after the dealer searched across inventory in the entire state, there were only three that had that option. As others said, it is useful if you need that extra seat to make it a seven passenger. But in my case I needed six but wanted to have an extra seat in reserve but it wasn't worth $500 to me. I actually like having the captains chairs now as it makes in easy for my kids to get in the third row without moving the second row seats.
