Anyone out there running an AL PRIORITY detection/jamming system on their 2020 Explorers? I'm looking at installing this on my 2020 ST and looking for optimum mounting location suggestions for the forward facing sensors. Anyone already have this system or a similar system installed and operational on their 2020 Explorer and if so, could you share some install pics and feedback on detection/jamming success or problems.

I have an ALP system that I need to install in my new 2021 ST. I am going to try and install the regular heads and TX head into the front grill. I think I can access the main wiring harness going into the vehicle from the drivers side. On the rear my nephew has a 3D printer so he is going to make me some mount that I can double sided tape to the area underneath the Explorer emblem. There is a molded piece that has the license plate lights and camera mounted to it and it looks like I can pass the wires through that piece. I have attached a picture of where I am going to try and mount the front heads. I am going to try and start the install in a week or 2.

Could you just use the place near the fog lamps, and the center location under the logo, the opening??

You can use the opening below the grill but if you encounter the dragon eye guns there may be a risk of punch throughs if they target the headlights. I have a Prolaser 3 lidar gun. I was going to first try the opening below the grill and see if I get any punch throughs with the PL3. I travel to Ohio where they use the dragon eye guns. I may move my front heads to the grill once I receive my Whipple intercooler, but I will probably not receive it for another month. I will update hopefully within the next month on how my install is going..

Thanks for the info...

I tried a quick search to see what they use in Michigan, but couldn't find anything... Do you know where I could find out what they use in Michigan?

I am a member of RDforum it is for people to talk about radar and laser countermeasures. They have a post about laser use in Michigan and no one has encountered the dragon eye. You may want to sign up on RDforum it has a lot of good info on the site.

Thanks, I did check it out, but was unable to find anything after a quick look. I'll sign up and take a more thorough look.

Here is my Escort setup install. I tested the location of the jammers with the help of a local cop.

He refused to believe anything like this actually worked.

Well, they do. The height and position I chose got me the best range for the units I have.

I know that some of the other manufacturers suggest going a bit lower since the police typically use the license plate as a target, but in Ohio, they don't have that luxury.

With my ALP heads i will have to cut into my grill so I'm going to try the opening below the grill. I have a Prolaser 3 lidar to to test my system. I am going to start my install this weekend. Hopefully I can get it finished and tested. If it has any punch throughs I will purchase a new grill and modify it.

How does your setup work? I have the Redline 360c and the M1 dash, I know I can't run the ZW3 from the detector unless I lose the dashcam.
I like that you didn't have to cut into the grille, or at least it looks like very little cutting.
I would much rather the Escort version, so I could have the detector control the jamming part... As I hear you can set it up to turn off after 4 seconds, or something similar.

So just wondering what you think of yours...

Thanks

I got the Escort ZW5 Laser Shifter with Direct Wire.

You are correct, you have to abandon the M1 camera in order to run the jammers.

I didn't have to cut the grille at all. Just used a little heat and patience. Once we had everything level and aimed, i used black silicone caulk to set them in place.

As far as the jammer settings, they are all in the Escort app.

Originally they were either on or off meaning no auto-shutoff after a certain time. Now, they are factory set to turn off after 10 seconds and will rearm after 2 minutes.

All of that being said, Escort pushes quite a few firmware updates to these things so some of the parameters I am telling you might have changed.

Lastly, I live in Cincinnati about 10 minutes from Escort. They are absolute crap when it comes to customer service or support. They are using Covid as an excuse. Most of the support I have gotten is from a guy that has a YouTube channel completely dedicated to radar detectors. https://www.youtube.com/user/TravelCam1111.

I have installed my ALP system 2 regular heads and 1 TX head front and rear and it jammed my Prolaser 3 lidar gun. The only modification I had to make was drilling a hole in my rear hatch so I could run the cables for the rear heads. I am waiting on a piece of IR admitting acrylic to hide my rear heads. The acrylic is on back order until August. I am going to get my system tested against the harder to jam guns like the dragon eye. I will update when that happens.

Thanks. ALP jammers are wired so it was a lot of work to get them installed. But it is the only system that can jam the dragon eye guns consistently. I also like the Bluetooth and the speaker that can tell you what gun you are getting shot with.

Wonder if you'd done any updates since then.. Also in your pictures with the edited circles it looks like you had 2 different configurations (pic 1 vs pic 2) and I was wondering what you were thinking? Why you picked one over the 1 over the other or am I making a mistake? Believe me I have made many over the years :)

I have changed my system since I last posted. I moved my RX heads to the grill and have 2 TX black heads on the front and back and 2 RX heads on the back. I was getting punch through with the Dragon Eye gun because of the large service area. With my new set up I am jam to gun with all lidar guns. I also made rear covers out of IR plexiglass to hide my rear heads.
