So, I have a 2022 Black ST on order (placed this morning). My salesperson tells me this afternoon that someone backed out of a Star White that arrived on lot today. I keep my car in the garage, but I do have cats that jump on my car causing little dirty kitty paw prints all over the hood, windshield, and roof (I currently own a white vehicle). At one time in my life, I owned a black Hummer H3, and the dirt would drive me nuts. My predicament is....should I just forgo the black and get the white to maintain my sanity? I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the black looks, but the white is really pretty smooth itself. Also, I do live in Texas.....if that factors in at all. Thank you!!!

You are right in that black looks great….but more so when clean. I’ve had black cars but with my OCD, it’s not a good idea for me. So what did my wife talk me into? A new black BMW. But it’s metallic black with a very high quality paint job. Those two things make it much more forgiving. I’ve never regretted getting Star White. I’d do it again too.

ceramic coat the black and stick with it unless you cant stand the temp, white is definitely the more practical choice, its like sneakers or Heels for women , or 10.5 in or 16 in barrel for your AR-15

I am on my 5th white vehicle. I don't have the time/patience to hand wash every time and swirl marks annoy me. I would highly recommend a ceramic coating. I did mine and and ceramic coated the plastic pillars too and after using the automatic car wash on average once a week they haven't gotten any swirl marks

My evolution in ST color choice. Black is all they had at first. Soon a white one appears. They swapped the two out after two weeks so it was a 900 mile test drive;) Everytime I would drive through the dealers lot I would stop and check out new ST's especially the Rapid Red ones. I could have had a Rapid Red ST the day I drove the white one home. I put 12,000 miles on a white one. Traded the white one in on a Rapid Red ST. All 2020's.

My take away from all of this? Black is pretty up close on a sunny day where you can see the metallic but a pain to keep clean otherwise. Kinda like having a second wife, very needy. The white is pretty close up where you can see the metallic but that's really only during a sunny day otherwise it is a pretty boring color. My experience with what I thought was going to be my first ST color, Atlas Blue, turned out to be better looking beneath the showroom lights and in photos and less so in person in sunlight and pretty dark on a cloudy day. Rich copper is too brown 95% of the time. Blue not bad in the sun but looks like blue jeans otherwise. Iconic Silver, I liked, but my wife considers gray tones as a non-color for vehicles. Graphite was too dark but has some awesome metallic up close in the sun.

I was just facing this dilemma a week ago. Had my heart set on Star White. The local dealer said they had a new one for sale...but they couldn't find it in their inventory. (I wonder how Ford deals with "lost on arrival" cars from the factory.) I couldn't wait any longer as this was replacing my dead Raptor, so I bought a black one. While I wish it was star white, I don't regret the black because at least a few cars have gotten out of my way—they thought I was an unmarked cop car. *shrug* If you still can't decide by next week, buy both and keep the one you drive at least four out of the following seven days. ;)

Black vehicles are amazing when slicked up. I'm simply not in a position to give one what it deserves these days.

I have always had black vehicles and always hand wash once per week, but really liked the white ST more. IMG_20211007_184126169.jpg

In my opinion, white vehicles show dirt less than any other color. Strange, but true.

A few more black and white ST's to ponder with the solution to the problem shown in the last photo.

Just remember, if you go with the last choice, you will be followed and photographed every day!
You will also show up here as the 2023 Explorer ST test vehicle roaming the streets! Lol

The White.. well actually EVERY color... would look way better with all the plastic moulding and trim body color painted.

I love my BLACK ST but this white one with body color everything looks amazing.
