The tire is not the issue, it's the rim that has to clear.

What does the tire have to do with clearing the brakes? The wheel is what matters.

Mistake. I meant the differential. But why won’t tire shops put a size 245 50 r/20 snow tire a new wheel and on my st ? Why is it unsafe? I don’t get that.

We have no idea what you're talking about. The pic shows 255/55, your post now says 245/50. What does the differential have to do with anything? Unless you're talking about the DIFFERENCE between these tire sizes? And what does this have to do with brake clearance? Are you buying different rims as well? If you want help, you have to be more informative. Meanwhile, I'll give you some advice, just do what the tire store wants you to do!

Lol. Yeah I screwed that up. Str Pack 21 inch wheel

question : 1. What’s the correct wheel offset?
question. 2. Why can’t I buy a 20 inch wheel and put a 245 50 R 20 Tire on the new wheel?

You can go as small as an 18” wheel and put the snow tire you like on them. Sounds like you’re looking for something in the 8-8.5” wide range. Offset would be in the 37.5-40 range if you wanted to match oem.

245/50R20 is too short of a tire. You need either 255/55R20 or say 275/50R20 on the ST.
