Figured this could be a fun topic. Had a great (not so great) one yesterday I figured I'd share.

My buddy hit me up to come with him and his girl to go buy this 2020 PP2 GT Mustang at a Toyota dealership in Maryland. He was trading in his 2011 GT Base car. We get there, car is unlocked, looks fairly clean so we check it out. Stand around for a bit and no one comes. So we finally go inside... turns out their a "no hassle" dealership so I can at least appreciate that. Well that's pretty much where no hassle ended. So we tell them straight up before we even talk about the 20 that we want to see what they'll give him on the 11... the guy tries to argue with us and get started right into trying to figure out the fiance on the 20. My buddy has a great credit score so we knew it wouldn't be an issue but we wanted to know if it was even worth doing or he should sell the 11 outright. Clean car, lower miles, desirable color (white), tasteful mods. After some hassle they finally realize we wont budge until they give us a price on it. Salesman was extremely pushy and rude up to this point. Every time my buddies girlfriend would ask a question he would dismiss her. Kept trying to make useless small talk to me... we were getting pretty agitated at this point.

So they take a look at his car, about 20 mins pass and they finally came back with a number. It was a little lower than we'd hoped but not anything insane. We discussed it for a minute and agreed it was probably fair. So at that point we tell them we'll test drive the 20... go take it out, everything checks out, come back and tell the guy lets figure out the deal. So they run his credit. The guy comes back and rudely announces louder than he should have the credit score is no good and its going to hurt him. But in the same breath tells us they can get him a 3.99 rate. So that doesn't add up right away. So we asked to see the score, he tells us its low 600s... we ask to see the paper... well then he comes back an shows us a 720. We just kinda stared at him blankly. Probably honestly should have walked at this point but we figured the deal was good enough on the car and they clearly didn't understand that they had it under book for it being a PP2, I think they just thought it was a regular GT as the price reflected. So we agree to do the deal. He tells us to wait on finance and in the meantime to start moving his stuff from the 11 to the 20.

So we go outside, they've cleaned the car at this point but did a pretty half assed job, whatever not a big deal. Well about the time we get everything transferred out of the old car and into the new one. The salesman comes back with another customer and throws dealer tags on my buddies 11. We asked him what he was doing and he tells us this guys looking at the car and they want to take it on a test drive. It didn't quite sink in at first but by the time it did he was already on the road with it. The deal wasn't final, it was still my buddies insurance on the 11, technically still his car as we hadn't signed anything yet, and they just let some random person take it up the road.

I'd like to say that was it but it gets better. They were gone for a good while. Well in the meantime they finally call us back to finance. They tell us he needs his original co-signer there to sign off on the 15 day pay off. We inform them that cant happen because its his mom and shes currently in the hospital with her dying mom. (true story). He's had the car for 5 plus years now didn't even realize he still had a co-sign on it. Well then they inform us unless we can get her to drive an hour and a half up there that night we cant take the car despite the fact their already letting people test drive his. Well at this point I walk away for a second cause I hear a Coyote loudly revving in the parking lot... Sure enough its the 11. I walk back in and inform my buddy, at this point he pretty much looses his shit and tells them hes gonna walk. They beg him to stay, work out some sort of overly complicated b.s. to get her signature and get it notarized and bring back the paperwork and they'll let us take the car home. Well before we even finalize the deal they already have the couple looking at the 11 doing paperwork on it to bring it home. I've seen some dealers do some sketchy stuff but I think this one took the cake... As we're standing waiting for them to put plates on it the salesman comes up and makes some backhanded comment to my buddies girl again about her not being able to drive it cause its a stick car... at this point I think we were all to fried to even comment back... In the long run we ended up getting it all squared away but what a shit show. I think this whole ordeal took about 4 hours.

Luckily most of my own vehicles have went pretty smooth, Typically in and out in less than 2 hours.... So who else has some crazy dealership stories they wanna share?
