Im selling my 2016 m4 and getting a 22 explorer st and I’m new to this stuff and was wondering if the best bet would be sdp downpipes and borla exhaust

My Kaw 1100 with a Muzzy system registered 143.7Db, it's physically painful. Every vehicle out there sounds quiet in comparison :)

Yeah I had a stupid loud bike too. GPZ1100 with Vance and Hines. Stupid loud distorting stereo in my car back then too. It's a wonder I can hear anything at all :)

the new aFe is going to be loud, only a center muffler with rear muffler deletes - full 2.5" from the downpipes back
cp-e is also going to be releasing a 3" exhaust that I'm sure will be ear splitting , that's how they do it !

To be honest, the aFe is not that loud. It has a good note and tone with no drone. I'm digging it! That being said, it's definitely not broken in yet and will probably get louder as the center muffler breaks in.

Would the mrbp axle back be a louder option comparing it to an atak borla cat back?

Hmm good to know. I was so set on the mbrp catback but heard from several people that it ended up being louder than they’d like. Also heard there was drone. So then I moved onto considering the aFe system. I’m so torn. I have two kids, it’s my daily, and I just want a little extra with my exhaust when I open it up.

My ST is my daily driver and I'm loving my aFe exhaust. To me, it's pretty decent for a V6 with a good sound.

Have you seen the valvetronic exhaust set up?
X-pipe and custom valve exhaust which is a straight pipe when open and closed sounds like a Gibson axle back (y)

I've got the Borla Atak installed and love it. When I first start it and pull out of the garage, you can feel the rumble in the ST. After about two minutes at idle it quiets right back down. No drone, deep throat when you lay into it.
