Predictions on gas prices

Now that Russia has invaded Ukraine, gasoline prices will go up. One analyst on Fox News predicted gas prices could double by the summer. $7.00 a gallon gas?

Come on man. That’s just alarmism and ignores the fact that our federal government feels our pain and is “considering” coming to the rescue.

They “may” temporarily remove the federal gas tax (inferior to this week’s price increase in my area). They may also make additional releases from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (the last one was about equal to 18 hours of our country’s petroleum consumption).

Keystone pipeline does not produce anything, it is just a transportation pipeline. And it's all Canadian tar sands oil that is sent to the gulf for refining for overseas shipment, it's not the US's oil. Lastly, tar sands oil is really not good for gasoline refining, it's too dirty and requires a lot of extra work.

How about the geniuses (81 million yo!) that voted for Vegetable In Chief Biden pay the higher gas prices for us? Nothing happening is surprising, everyone should've seen all this coming.

"This Week" host George Stephanopoulos pointed to recommendations from Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) for the U.S. to lift restrictions on oil drilling on federal land and for the Keystone Pipeline to be reopened. Psaki said Cotton's recommendations would not solve any of the U.S.'s problems.

"The Keystone Pipeline was not processing oil through the system. That does not solve any problems. That's a misdiagnosis or maybe a misdiagnosis of what needs to happen," said Psaki. "I would also note that on oil leases, what this actually justifies in President Biden's view is the fact that we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, on oil in general ... and we need to look at other ways of having energy in our country and others."

The left looks at any fuel crisis as an excuse to push their green agenda at all costs. They will blame it on anything but their policies. Remember "Energy prices will necessarily skyrocket".

The left is and will always be delusional. It’s mind boggling the lack of common sense and ineptitude.

The US produces 11.3 million barrels of oil per day (BPD). We consume 17.2 million BPD. We import from Canada 4.5 million BPD and from Mexico 700,000 BPD. We make up the rest from Russia at 595,000 BPD and Saudi Arabia 555,000 BPD. The junior high solution (current administration) is to slow our production and import less from Canada . The result is we will have more and more reliance on Russia and the Saudis. Their policies also rule out nuclear which other countries like France are using to their benefit. Their solution- we'll just convert everything to solar and wind. Supposedly backed by some gigantic as yet undetermined battery to protect us when the wind doesn't blow and sun doesn't shine. In which case, certain not very windy, overcast regions are probably fucked! Think of Washington and Oregon west of the Cascades (the big population centers), not to mention my home state of Michigan.

I won't even get into the engineering in the amount of electrical energy conversions due to transformers, storage problems, etc. It's not like 5 watts gets created and shipped miles and miles and remains 5 watts. And long haul trucking running on batteries? One only needs a high school physics class to realize the fallacy of these arguments. With current technology the only intelligent way forward is investment in the newer small-scale nuclear energy reactors. It's just a fancy way to boil water.

There is certainly a place for both solar and wind in the infrastructure, but to think we can rely on it completely is the sort of thing only the person who failed that physics class would think is possible.
